One river, two dumpsites. A mudlarking and exploration adventure.

I went back to a dumpsite I've been to before, and then went looking for another. A nice autumn day, a little bit grey, but came home tired and happy with the things that I found.

07:34 I pine for more than just a vicarious connection to all the British mudlarkers I've been following. Belonging is an essential part of being human, & there's been a dearth of that in my life. I've mostly made my peace with that, being now a senior citizen, but there are still very poignant moments, such as your description of the friend you've yet to meet, Amanda Bell.

I think so too. I'm hoping I can make a replacement for what's lost with resin, and hopefully I can find a dye that will match the colour. I've got a cap for it, I found it at that dumpsite the time I visited before, and it fits perfectly... so perfectly it might even be from that bottle! 🙂

The uranium glass bottle would also look good with some sort of polymer clay mutant climbing out of the broken part. Some of the verdigris metal sheets would look amazing on the cover of a journal. Perhaps a journal of your mudlarking and bottle dump activities.

We are trawling through all your videos which, along with those from the Northern Mudlarks and Kit & Caboodle, give us hours of enjoyment. You certainly live in a superb part of England. As you wade through those beautiful rivers we think you may benefit from the acquisition of some waders thereby eliminating the risk of flooding your ''gummies'', Australian term. Your collecting of trash from the rivers deserves recognition.

Your videos are so relaxing, especially after a stressful day. Thank you so much for all the effort you put into your channel. The uranium glass bottle is fantastic, even if you do not make it a "prosthetic" shoulder it would be a lovely sight in a window. enjoyed so much your ramble, not able to do that myself due to "bubble" hiding for work. Being designated essential not because we see the terribly sick but because of what we do for the people who care for them. It is late night here and your voice is very soothing before sleep and hearing the water burble along makes a pleasant good night. Stay well, take care and thank you.

Tom, Your river(brook) walk brought back memories of the brook(North Branch of the Metedeconk River) which delineated the eastern edge of our 27 acre farm. It had a warm dark color created by it's Iron rich water , and in the late forties and fifties was home to fresh water clams and other creatures which eventually disappeared due to pollution from large housing developments which changed the rural farm nature of our township. In my neighbors farm field , full of wild strawberries, I found a very large box turtle in 1960. On it's underside was carved, Lt. Opey Y co 189?. I never researched the name, perhaps someone from the Spanish American war? I almost brought it home but I didn't, It deserved to be left in peace. It was amazingly old then and I don't suppose it survived long enough to feel the encroachment of "civilization". Your walks show the cycle of life, rural to industrial and back again, but wonder if you ever encounter wildlife along your paths. Cheers, Rik Spector

Wonderful finds! Such a beautiful area there. When you were talking about a metal craft object, a image came to mind of old copper and brass shaped into flowers on copper pipe stems and made into a sculpture and perhaps also a water fountain , water running down over the metal flowers or bowls .It's just a thought.

I have just recently discovered your channel and I admire it. The combination of cleanup (something I do myself at the rhine river), mudlarking and handcrafting is very entertaining and I enjoy the way you narrate the video. It keeps me engaged and gives me feeling of participation in the situation. I also do find your dumbsites very rich. During my cleanups I find heaps of modern garbage and find it amazing if I discover a bottle stopper or even a plastic shampoo bottle from 1955. Gives me a little envy for your locations.

Once again you make a serene moment for me which I deeply appreciate. I am pleased your second site location appears to be promising. I am excited at the thought of future returns there. Also the possibility of Springtime foraging is very appealing.

Thank you Tom for a lovely meander along the river, it's so lovely to change the scenery. Your narration really adds to the flow of the video. At one point your hushed tones seemed to become quite like David Bellamy through the undergrowth. Ha ha. Shame you don't have a pack horse to carry your load. Love those wee bottles though, irresistible.

Your videos remind me of when my daughter and I used to hunt for treasures in our little bit of the river Dee. We had a wonderful summer doing it in 2016 . Unfortunately it was our last year as she passed away Sept 2017 aged 9. It was something we both loved to do and I've got many jars and boxes full of our finds. Thank you xx

Great video Tom, nice lot of poison bottles, and a second site that has great potential, we so miss our trips to Yorkshire... I think your right on the rusty gas hob ring, it looks like ones I've seen used by builders to melt pitch. As for the mystery piece with rose decoration, my first thought was the top of a greenhouse paraffin heater, but not at all certain. Thanks again and have a lovely Christmas. 🙂😎🐼

37:47 I think you should do you! Try not to compare yourself to others. If you genuinely like the style that the other KZreadr did with his bathroom than do it. Just make sure you love what you create because it comes from you! Love your videos! 🙂

Beautiful footage of the water and your adventures Tom, lots of lovely bottles and treasures. The colours of Autumn in contrast to the vegetation that is still green is stunning. Some nice china treasures amongst the bottles too -would love to search an area like this with you! Beautiful views of the snow on the hills from your window too.
