A Week Of HVAC Installs And Service Work | What do HVAC Technicians Do? | Types of Jobs in a Day
Come along and see what a typical work week looks like for a licensed HVAC Technician! This is a great video for those thinking about getting into the HVAC or Plumbing industry. You will see what types of jobs we do each day. Sometimes you may be doing more repairs and other days servicing boilers to make sure they are working correctly. You will see us doing a skimming which is very common after a new install, to make sure all the dirt and oils are cleared out.
Some days can be more challenging than others but if you love problem solving and coming up with solutions, then this is definitely for you. Most of the time everything goes smoothly if you do the job correctly but there can be surprise leaks or issues.
Let me know your thoughts on this video and if you have any questions, feel free to comment below :)

Thank you for an awesome channel! Curious to know if there are a lot of foreigners who get HVAC jobs. I got my licence and 2 years experience in Western Europe but would love to move back to the US.

Hey thanks for watching my videos! I know of several foreigners who are in the HVAC field and do very well for themselves. I think in the US that experience can only help you. I hope it all works out!

On that Bosch furnace install can I ask why you double nut the nuts on the unistrut. It has proven by double nutting it creates more stress on the rod and nut and can cause stress fractures in the rod.

@@BlueCollarBiceps yes this is actually from the bolt manufacturer hill man and fastnel have sent me about it!!! Care must be taken during the tightening of the second nut as overtightening will lead to thread stripping or tensile rupture of the bolt. Although the nuts used for this method require little investment, the installation process itself is time-consuming and relies on the skill of the operator. It is also an unreliable locking method that protects poorly against vibration, which means it must be inspected and maintained often - increasing long-term costs. It is particularly ineffective when lubrication of the bolted joint is required.

@@daveg8918 Hey well you learn something every day! That’s interesting I appreciate you pointing that out. Always used them as lock nuts basically but I don’t doubt this!

@@BlueCollarBiceps yes so did I but I was doing a warehouse and hanging 25 unit heaters and the inspector declined them and wanted me to actually use lock nuts: so I reached out to the manufacturers and was sent that and Millions of bits of other info. But I love learning new things

Dave can you send me a link to the case study that shows the rod failures due to using jam nuts? I would love to read through it.

To skim properly boiler is under steam pressure. Not a trickle of water. Close angle valves 15 psi let her rip. Your setup is right but your not utilizing steam pressure. Steam is the lost art. Steam pressure is the best way to get rid of oil residue from manufacturing and threading black iron. During the skimming process of course. You have my number. The viewers need a max bench. Then a bulkhead boiler removal.

Gonna agree to disagree on this one! Everything out there on steam points to a slow stream after making good steam. Basically you want a pencil width stream until it cleans up. Once you start you let it go the whole way through no stopping. No more surging after this was done. I’ll still do a max bench and boiler video though 😂

@@BlueCollarBiceps Ive done it both ways. I was taught under pressure. My theory was the same as yours and my elder went with it cause it made sense. Had to go back to the nine section Weil McLean and do it over. Im just saying. As you know there are other factors. Your not wrong at all im not saying that. Squick has always been a my treatment... Never really tried a liquid treatment? You?
