A Visit to Killeen Mall
Ойын-сауық
Killeen Mall is a middling mall near Fort Hood TX. It's alive, but has seen quite a bit of turbulence as of late that puts its future in a precarious spot.

A lot of malls with no fountains lately I've noticed. This mall is ok and I really like those blue and red star shaped tiles. Nice video D.G.😊

Dillards in an old Sears, you don’t see that everyday.

Hey, did you know I was born in this town? My mom used to work in this mall when I was a kid.

@@ChristheShrinerdawg no I don’t think you’ve ever mentioned it, that’s cool.
1st. Not often do we see a Dillards in an old Sears pad? It is even more amazing that they left the stone front up.

They did the same thing at Richland Mall in Waco. It is so weird for those of us who remember Sears.
It used to be very lively back in the 2000's..they renovated it a few times..they had fountains in the hall ways and blood red carpeting LOL..but after the renovations it never really got back together especially after KB toys, Sears, EB Games, and other stores disappeared..the food is ok..
If I remember correctly, Bealls used to be over where Burlington currently is, it was ALWAYS closed as far back as I can remember, as for Wilson's, I honestly don't know
Keep em rolling and grab a meal on me.😉
Killeen is an ever-changing place and the Killeen Mall reflects that imo
The Mega Furniture store already closed, but they're getting a trio of discount stores - HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls. Some rough neighborhoods near the mall, but hope it stays in business. I'm on the far south side of Harker Heights, but it just has strip centers; though, generally nicer further south in Harker Heights or southeast Killeen near the Harker Heights border with less crime, nice parks, and better schools. Killeen-Temple is now the 7th largest metro in Texas behind El Paso and McAllen at around 500k people, so it seems like there should be more local investment.
The only reason Killeen mall is still open, and there are businesses left in Killeen in general, is because of the Army base nearby

as someone who lives in harker heights i can totally confirm this theory
As a Dutch girl enjoying your videos I wonder why there are massage chairs in almost every mall. I immediately think about the hygiene of the chairs because so many people supposed to sit on it 😅. And carpet on the floor is also such kind of thing

Yes, you're right. There are so many massage chairs in malls in the U.S. I also think that it's pretty hygienic to use, since people who are not homeless wash their clothes and their body and their hair. Also I never see videos where carpets get washed in the mall, but I'm pretty sure they obviously do get washed, like probably when the mall is closed or like an hour before the mall opens. 😊
Wow I'm totally feeling that Hallmark Store. They closed the one in the mall in my city years ago. I totally miss it being that I shopped there all the time. Great walk, Doomie 😀👍
Wikipedia said Kohan bought the mall in February 2024 for 30 million.
It's in Killeen, you didn't miss much! Lol
Killeen native here, people tend tp overexagerate how bad killeen is. I prefer it over Waco. Killeen definently has its problems but it has much to offer and is growing at a fast pace. It is also getting a Dave and Busters next year so we are excited for that
That's a nice big mall full of shopping stores
Right up the road from this mall, there is a Chinese restaurant that used to be a Luby's Restaurant. That Luby's was permanently closed in the 90's because there was a mass shooting there was a mass shooting there. About 24 dead, 27 injured.
Bealls was where that second Dillards is at, in between those 2 jewelry stores. Across from Journeys and Hot Topic (both of these stores I did work at). I do have a lot of fun crazy memories living in Killeen. Way better than Waco.
I thought when Doomie said Doll hairs, I thought he was jokingly referring to a Dollar store. But no, there's a store spelled Dawahares.
Went to my first date with my girlfriend the same exact day this video was made. Went through the whole thing seeing if i could find myself, i only saw a glimpse but it was me
What!? No joke to close on?
We go to Waco a lot, but we have only been through Kileen/Temple a couple of times. There is nothing down there besides the military bases and warehouses. Not much down there for the average person to enjoy. Waco is a really nice city that has recently attracted a lot of downtown development. Richland Mall is healthy, and their business corridors continue to grow and evolve. As a resident of Houston, we currently have the second largest population growth, so we must be doing something right. It is all about the jobs down here. If you want to see beauty, you need to drive out of town to the piney woods and lakes or down to the beach. Beaumont does suck though. Significant population loss and just a depressing feeling all around town.

I don't know why doomie said Houston was bad. As far as I know from what I've researched, Houston is doing fine economically. Also besides Beaumont, Port Arthur is struggling a lot as well. I am VERY surprised he didn't mention the economic struggles of Port Arthur, besides Beaumont.

@BoratWanksta Port Arthur is definitely a dead city. Comparable to rust belt cities, in my opinion. I visited Port Arthur multiple times, including in December of last year. Houston is pretty ugly in comparison to the rest of Texas, but you can make really good money fairly easy here. Unfortunately, the secret is out, and we are getting even more crowded.

Haven't been to this mall since 1991, I was 8 and born in Killeen.

Doesn’t look as bad as the Temple mall.
Update on the mega furniture store in killeen mall: the store is permanently closed and moved to the temple mall

Oh my goodness. I'm like the biggest candy lover, so to me Sour Patch Kids frozen treats sound really cool. I would totally want to try some if I ever got the chance to. Lucky you.
For this video, I ate some Vanilla Chocolate Chip Ice Cream.🍨🍫
Killeen sucks balls...harker heights used to be good..now, its bad too. Had to move to salado.
I grew up with this mall. It was a completely different vibe back in the 90s & 2000s. Seen a ton of stores come & go as time pasted. They used to have a playground & restaurant in one of their entrances. Mega Furniture used to be a Dillards. Kays Jewelers used to be Babbages, Game Stop used to be a video store, & the children's play area in front of JCPenny's used to be a water fountain. Also one of their anchor stores just closed recently. The mall is slowly dying. Killeen isn't called "KILLeen" for nothing. Lots of crime happens down there, especially in the downtown area which is not far from where the mall is located. There was also riot between a bunch of teens in the mall & they had to close the mall for a day due to social media threats in 2020. Yes, K-town is "that bad". As always, it's the usual suspects. The military base is really the driving force behind the city. Lots of military folks down there Without it, I think the mall would be in worst conditions than it is. The mall is definitely withstanding but it has seen better days.
I went to Bath& Body Works on Sunday only because Montreal had their annual St.Patricks Day Parade on Ste.Catherine street. I ended up buying a ''You're the Doggone Best'' Rainbow Cereal foaming hand soap. I really like this one. I highly recommend it to all lactonic/gourmand lovers out there. The notes are very simple. There is Rainbow Cereal and a splash of Milk.🧼🥛🥣
