a very *honest* what i ate 🥪🍜 + mini target haul lmao 🛒🎯

not that my other one's aren't.... lol
more below
it's just that this is the kind of day of eating i wouldn't normally prefer to post as a standalone "what i eat in a day" video of! (same with my last one tbh) they were supposed to be part of a "what i eat in a week" vid but i talk sooo much haha... but i don't want to only show you guys the days that i want to show you, you know? lol anyway...
also, if my videos feel somewhat simpler(?) orrrr more casual(?) lately that's because i'm trying to just get into a better rhythm of posting often! i want to post ~cooler~ videos but i'm prioritizing frequency for right now so i can start to ease in the more themed or complex vids if that makes sense!

Some French press tips; you have about the right amount of grounds but should be grinding it up much finer (no whole/half beans left). Don’t let your water boil, when you start hearing that boiling wound (pre whistle) is when you should put the hot water into the grounds. You poured great, right amount of water, you don’t need to stir it, make sure it sits for a few minutes and it will strain easily (idk if you waited, as the editing doesn’t show time you know).

U might already know this but i learned this tip from working at a sandwich shop but if u take a big ol handful of greens and crunch it in ur hand a little then put the slightly compressed ball of green on ur sandwich it helps keep the greens on the sandwich and also helps put more on there!

Usually my rule of thumb is 2 tablespoons of coffee per cup especially with new beans just to see how they taste, then you can adjust from there. Also! If you want to use your blender / a blender to grind your beans I'd recommend getting flat blades and then when you grind it shaking it so the grinds are even. But that's only if you really HAVE TO use a blender, if you can afford to please get a grinder.

You can make cold brew in the French press :) grind the beans the exact same way and just let it sit in the fridge for 14 ish hours :) much better flavor imo. Do it a few hours before you go to bed then it’s ready when you get up the next day

Sitting here drinking a matcha latte with Jordan’s Skinny Syrup (sugar cookie flavor), unsweetened almond coconut milk & some vanilla nut pod creamer & just thinking abt a cozy vegan soup recipe in my head & saw this notification for you new vid. I’m craving a soup with potatoes, soy curls, unchick’n broth, onion, garlic, chopped jalapeño, chopped broccoli & vegan cheese sauce. I think I’ll make my broth & boil my potatoes, onion jalapeño & garlic with herbs in the slow cooker till potatoes are barely fork tender & then add the chz sauce, soy curls & broccoli, but not cook too much longer after adding those cause I don’t like mushy broccoli. All your foods here made me hungry! And those cookies! I gotta make some pumpkin snickerdoodles. 💕🌻💕

Love you, but the unevenness of those coffee grinds would give James Hoffman a coronary. Yes, it's a bit of an an investment ($50ish) but bigger and smaller grounds will extract at different rates so some beans will essentially be wasted while others will produce bitterness.

12:38 We used to really like Best Food vegan mayonnaise. It was the only brand I would buy. The price was great (only $2.99 a jar), it tasted delicious and I was very pleased that our commissary on the MCAS Miramar Base carried it. Then, right when Covid 19 hit, the color of the mayonnaise changed and the taste took on the smell of the plastic container it came in. I don’t know if this change was targeted in the San Diego area alone, or if it was like this everywhere. I actually drove around to at least four different grocery stores in the surrounding area, Escondido, Poway, Chula Vista and La Jolla, to see if the color of the mayonnaise was still white, or if theirs too had changed to a pale grey-ish green- - it had, so I knew they would all taste like plastic. Then I thought, we’ll, maybe it just tasted like plastic to me and my family, but I’ve heard others agree with me, while some don’t. I buy Follow Your Heart (no soy) mayonnaise now. I’ve found it in Sprouts and Ralph’s- but it was so pricey! $9.99 - $10.99 for a large jar (we’re a household of 6, plus, grand kiddos). However, I just recently discovered that our local Stater Brothers sells the same version and large jar for just $7.99 👍

I'm not sure if they have vegan options but if they do you should def go there if you don't already go there lol ALSO light roast is my favorite kind of coffee. it has more caffeine than other coffee because the roasting process destroys some of the caffeine. it also tends to have a lighter and less burnt flavor :)

Hey I'm a barista :-) light roast coffee is more caffienated and has a slightly less strong flavor, dark roast has less caffiene but a stronger or more "bold" flavor and medium is of course in the middle. If you like dark roast though you should try a portofino, it's less acidic than regular dark roast which you'll probably like if you like cold brew which is also less acidic

  • @worm_slop

Also you should get a grinder, having an actual grinder will help you get the right size and it'll make a stronger and better coffee. Also pro tip, maybe after you get a grinder, when making coffee in a French press let it bloom first, pour hot water over the ground beans only enough to make it the texture of mud, stir and let it sit for about a minute, a light brown foam will form, that's the beans giving off CO2 then add the rest of the water and brew normally

I think they have a few vegan ones, but I've definitely been caught out buying non vegan ones. Wet N Wild however, have started to sell in China and aren't CF anymore. Never understand why brands can't be more transparent, but perhaps it's just old packaging (which would be a good thing I guess?). Such a tricky thing trying to navigate now too, more brands (like sally bloody hansen) are trying to appeal to us cruelty free folk with misleading language.
