I was thinking the same thing! She actually has some length to her muzzle, she can breathe and has room in her mouth for her tongue. I love her look!

This is the healthiest pug I've ever seen. She's got a bit of a snout still, isn't struggling to breathe, and she looks damn good for 16; she could pass for 8 maybe 10.

I completely agree with you, breeders of pugs have started to breed them with even smaller snouts nowadays and it’s to the point I think it’s cruel. They need to have a bit of a snout like this older pug, They’ll have way less health issues and can actually breathe!

That's what keeping them a healthy weight does, dogs can live for 15, 20, years but everyone assumes they die at 8 or 10. The numbers are skewed, if we take out the extremes dogs actually live like 14 years on average iirc. The healthy dogs I know are all breaching 10 and going strong. A 10yo dog is equivalent to a 50yo human, that's why they are only sometimes grey in places. They don't choose what they eat, or how much, we have to take care of them.

​@Renea Bullock the larger the dog, the shorter the lifespan. Small dogs can live 15- 20 years, yes, and they usually do, but any large bread living pass 15 is rare /impossible. My toy poodle will be 17 this year and i hope my german shepherd lives pass 14❤

Exactly how my cat is. She goes in for a nail clip at the vet every once in awhile. If I go in with her, DRAMA. If I don't, apparently she's an angel. Little brat 😂

Kudos to the breeder! This is an example of what we should breed. Preservation breeders are happy of the work of this breeder. Unfortunately, because most people shop by price, they buy puppies from puppy mills. However, this breeder definitely put time and effort into making sure their puppies were healthy and happy.

That's a traditional pug, like 5th gen. Maybe it's one that has been reverse bred, where the inbreeding features are taken out... people are doing that now thankfully. it should be illegal to intentionally bring a life into the world where most of it would be full of suffering

We took my absolute asshole of a cat to the vet, and when we picked him up they said he was an ABSOLUTE ANGEL?! Like, you sure this is right the right cat? Because my cat screams when his food dish ‘empty’ (aka he moved the food around so the bottom was showing) and he didn’t like anyone BUT me holding him. But no. AN ABSOLUTE ANGEL.

I had a dog who was a mixed spitz who was hella dramatic in my house and with my family. But when she went to the vet, she suddenly became the sweetest most well-behaved princess that all the nurses and doctors loved her and would give her pets. No growling and gnashing of teeth even for just a second. Meanwhile if she was in our house, she would threaten to bite all strangers. She was very very nice and sweet to my family at all times though. Just very dramatic with everything including eating.

That’s why most pugs have terrible breathing issues and German shepherds have joint issues just to name a few. These dogs looked so much healthier and different in the past before all the breeding to what each breed looks like now

they are breeding it back in for health reasons.. (the constant wheezing, etc) some breeds are getting back to more natural characteristics.. like the GSD and sloping hips.. they are returning to a more square stature.. l love it.

Pugs seem to live in this elegant balance between "small dogs tend to have longer lifespans" and "dogs with flattened faces tend to have respiratory issues that can affect their health." They'll live a fairly long life with good care, but definitely need good care to make that happen. Also, she does actually appear to have a bit of a muzzle, so her breathing issues may not be as severe. Thus letting her err closer to the "smaller dogs tend toward longer lives" end of the balance.

My boy Smoke will be 15 in May. Vet says his blood work is like a dog half his age. Not all pugs are walking medical mishaps waiting to happen

The nail trim caught me so off guard!🤣 I used to work at multiple vet hospitals and a pet boarding and grooming facility and the sounds I heard come from pugs for a nail trim was the craziest stuff I've ever heard🤣🤣🤣🙈

Yeah, I noticed that too. She was quietly breathing the way dogs should be breathing. It also seems here face isn’t as extreme as some pugs are which is a good thing.

Roxy's facial expression throughout seems the definition of "zero f*cks given" & I'm totally here for it. Also, she's beautiful.

My pug would never! nail trims are almost impossible even wrapped in a towel with 2 people holding 😂 Roxy is a rare find - I used to work with a pug rescue and nobody was as chill as she is. What a brave pug❤

A pug that lets you cut their nails without any issue is crazy! What a queen! So glad her Mommy rescued her and gave her the love and care she deserves.

Pug cinnamon bun tails are the absolute cutest!

Rescued dogs seem aware of having been rescued, and 90% of the time they are well behaved, loving pookies. They know how good they have it❤

She's a cute pup. Look at that adorable face. Her eyes look clear, she's well behaved. What a little sweet heart. The owners did very well by her.

My Chihuahua acts like a giant baby around me but if I'm not there she's instantly 10x more chill bc she knows no one will baby her.

My cat is dramatic at home yet every time he visits the vet or groomer’s he’s perfectly behaved. The first time he got groomed I was worried and even gave the groomer some of his favourite creamy treats. When I went to pick him up the groomer told me he was perfect and didn’t need any treats, we were shocked but amused

She’s a sweetie. So glad she’s doing well and enjoying life.
