They shouldn’t release this video until he has had at least 6 months of some type of success with this tank. Most of these inverts are not captive bred. BRS should not be encouraging people to set up tanks full of wild species most likely doomed to die.

Consider the sexy shrimp. They are cute, and easy to care for. I have 4 in my 40g mixed reef, and thinking of getting three more. Whatever you do, make sure you have at least a small group of 3 to 4 and make sure you don't have fish that will eat them!
My favorite part of my tank is all my inverts, so I was really looking forward to this video. I was a bit disappointed when the entire first half of the video was an ad, though.

A very nice diverse array of softies and LPS corals. I like the different CUC you used as each one plays an important part in the eco system. Alyssa has a very nice collection of fish, inverts and softie corals. Thanks for the shout out my friend. Very well done edited video Matthew.

Many of these invertebrates have very specific food and ecosystems requirements.

What the scallop? Watching that scallop waddle made my day
I plan on doing a tank with cool inverts but plan on utilizing mangroves and lots of macro as a method of reducing the nutrients. Then hopefully the macro in the display will take off before I buy my tangs

@@mattb2906 Oh I think it's just that you got so many moderate to hard things in one. I think that is very smart. I would get one of those autofeeders like the Rondomatic (we have them here in Europe but you can get the Chinese copies). I was thinking of such a tank - one for NPS - that you feed a lot in a smaller tank and then doing daily 20% water swaps with a bigger system (on dosing pumps) - thus handling the nutrients better. I would NOT use filter socks and I would carbon dose - feeding bacteria that those animals filter out. The advantage you have is you can get Bacteria from Hydrospace and he has kept things like Carnation corals with that stuff - man I really need to get a house with more room and grow that stuff - but I am sure you will have success if you just buy it and dose it.
Way to make me rush over to the seahorse site and spend crazy amounts of money in two seconds. Wait.. that’s what watching your videos always make me do 😑😂
I have a nano invert only tank with sponges, macroalgae, and purple reef lobster! I love it more than my reef tank lol! And are you telling me I can possibly add a flame scallop to my reef tank with my star starfish or the reef lobster tank? I always thought this was a bad idea…but I guess you never know until you try.

This was so recent I’d assume you’d know frogspawn, octospawn, and hammers are no longer euphyllia
Oh this is a cool build, cant wait to see it evolve. I like the Gorgonians, anyone know if they shed and irritate neighboring LPS/SPS like traditional leathers do?
@BRStv
Жыл бұрын
Good question, and yes to both. Sometimes different species of gorgonians don't get along, so place different species away from each other. And high flow is definitely great, as they do shed.
Looks great! Would love to be able to get sponges easily in the UK. My only hesitation is, wouldn't the hermit crabs kill the snails (especially the conches) for their shells?

Great video with a nearly endless list of inverts and food! 🤣 My 25 gallon has been going steady, but I always seem to have some ugly phase going on even though I’m a year in and all my levels (salinity, nitrate, phosphate, calcium and alkalinity) have been normal and stable! I see lots of pods and they’re shedding their shells in the hair algae, but as soon as that’s gone, something else pops up. Curious if you have any tips besides manual removal. I haven’t added any new corals or livestock in months. Separately, my 10 gallon bare bottom QT has been upfor like a year now, with just a clown for the past 6 months. I might need to get some new livestock or do something unique with this tank. Not sure what yet…
@BRStv
Жыл бұрын
Aside from manual removal (which is super effective!), herbivores are your next best option. We like to use urchins in smaller systems. Specifically blue tuxedo urchins, but pincushions will work as well. Their shorter spines allow them to get into the rockwork better than their long spine counterparts.
What’s the smallest conch best suited for a nano ?
I have been looking around for that sweatshirt/hoodie and i can't find it. Do you know if they still have any in stock?
So are those little tiny bags of ROX sold on site or is that just a super small media bag with ROX ?
What is your water change schedule ? :)
No not the Inkbird! I ordered 4, then 1 more as a replacement. The temp readings go wonky, leading to alarms and either not heating the tank or over heating it. One of my tanks got up to the mid 90’s before I caught it, luckily it was a discus tank and everyone is fine. I’ve had 3 out of 5 controllers with problems in 9 months.

@@andreas9181 the aquarium trade is rife with unethical collection practices such as the use of cyanide, and just wild collection in general. So if a fish store has an unusually wide selection and you don't know how they got it it could be that they acquired it unethically.
