ASE's Armed Services Editions - critically important to soldiers in World War II. Most popular title was "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" Thrilled to find this movie and watch it now, thinking of those Soldiers with an ASE lovingly tucked into a pocket treasured and shared. I'm honored now to watch this movie with those soldiers in our minds and hearts, my father one of them.

‘Beauty is truth, truth beauty,-that is all Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.’ In other words, beauty is all we need in order to discover truth, and truth is itself beautiful. This is true, but if we seek more knowledge it will know more truth that we did not know........eg. We(common folk) may never go in space, but we all need to know about our universe created by God so we can learn to have an appreciation for him. Even though he knows our sins, he still loves us.

I can't thank you enough for uploading this TV movie version of this wonderful book. I loved it the first time I saw it decades ago and have been telling friends about it for years but could never find it until now. Developed by (among others) Blanche Hanalis, who had a hand in Little House on the Prairie, to me, this version is a masterpiece. I've been looking for it for years, but TV movies often disappear and are never issued on DVD. Superb performances from Cliff Robertson, Diane Baker, Nancy Malone and all the others as well. I LOVE IT.

The 40's mother was tougher on the father compared to the 70's mother. She had a little mercy because the 40s mother let him see her disappointment more.
@davidsamuels9557

That's an unfair characterization of the 40's mother. She adored her husband, and loved to listen to him spin his tales of fantasy. She got upset when he made empty promises about changing his life. She was pregnant. The financial burden of the family fell on her. The father was a great guy, but it was like she was raising three kids.
