A disillusioned homemaker on a vacation in the woods is disturbed by her husband continually trying to get her to come home--and, more ominously, a mysterious howling at night. (IMDB) Starring Barbara Eden, Larry Hagman, John Rubinstein, Vera Miles, and Tyne Daly.

It was a career-ending disaster then (George Gobel did great on tv, but it never mattered for film: he was unphotogenic, and the idea of pairing him with manically talented and yet irresistible always-on Vegas Act Mitzi Gaynor was doomed from the get-go: his "brown shoes in a tuxedo world approach to comedy tanks in an expensive musical comedy.) Sharp eyed viewers will not the bottom fragments of a Paramount soundstage lighting grid in the opening shot on the mountain side. It pretty much sums up the movie.

Spy thriller meets screwball comedy. Was the song "Strangers in the Night" introduced in this movie, or did the producers simply pay for its use?

Someone posted "it's like visiting old friends." Yes, it is. They may be older and tired but it's good to see them again. There's good balance between sadness and humor; "Earn it the hard way. Prostitution?" Great swansong.

The girls' lives were difficult, but their mother had to give up all her dreams, but, at least as consolation, she saw them come true through her daughter, everything she wanted, dreamed, hoped for, her daughter received and she was a very strong woman and a very attentive mother.

So glad I kicked that nasty tobacco habit. May 27, 1997. Imagine how everything smelled with smokers blowing that filthy nicotine everywhere. The very walls get coated with the stuff. So does non-smokers' lungs. Good movie, even though much of it is predictable, it has a decent cast and is totally watchable. I like seeing old stuff, cars, the fashions, etc. Thank you for the upload!

A real favorite of mine of Susan Hayward. I always liked when actresses like Susan played in tv movies in their later years. They had such class and were such a joy to watch. This movie touches me so since I have been dealing with cancer for 10 years and will for the rest of my life, however long that will be.

I can't believe it's been more than a half-century since I last saw this movie, but I've always remembered it and its classic ending. This is the bright side of KZread, where long-ago, esoteric treasures can be found (which partly makes up for its dark side).
