Whitby, located on the stunning Yorkshire coast of England, is a place of remarkable beauty year-round. However, it takes on a special charm during the magical winter season. Here are a few reasons why a visit to Whitby in winter is an absolute must:
1. Breathtaking Scenic Beauty: Picture this-a picturesque coastal town blanketed in a soft layer of snow, with historic buildings, charming cobblestone streets, and the majestic Whitby Abbey standing tall on the East Cliff. The winter landscape adds a touch of tranquility and ethereal beauty to this already captivating place.

Hi Lynn, Thank you for your wonderful message, I really enjoyed filming in Whitby, it was my first time there, and after the trouble we had at the first hotel everything fell into place. I have been to York to the Christmas market and also had a walk around the town filming a few places, but will definitely go back one day in the summer and do some more filming. Thank you for all your support by subscribing and watching the videos and have a wonderful 2024. Warm regards NeilR 🙏👍😎

When I was a child, my grandparents went to England and brought me back a little porcelain Whimsey on Why house. Ever since then, I've dreamed of going to a small English village, visiting the shops, feeling the moist air, and eating my fill of local fish and chips. Thank you for letting me live vicariously from America lol! I hope to still make this visit!

Thank you for these wonderful words, don’t leave it to long before you visit, there are some beautiful places in the uk . The same day I filmed Whitby I also visited Robin Hood’s Bay which a few miles away, which I am editing at the moment, which should be out in a couple of days, well worth a visit. Have a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year. NeilR x😊🙏👍

Hiya Neil, the Angel Hotel video came up on my recommendations and weve loved watching both of your Whitby videos, thank you so much for sharing them with us. My family (all from Barnsley) have loved Whitby for years and my Mum n Dad had their honeymoon there in 1954. Both sadly passed away now but carrying on the family tradition of making Whitby a special place i proposed to my partner at the top of the 199 steps in September 2020. I bought the engagement ring from C W Sellars a jewellery shop near the Abbey Wharf pub. When i got down on one knee to propose Karen thought i was collapsing after climbing the steps 😂😂 The exact second i proposed the bells of St Marys Church chimed 12 noon. I said that was my dear departed parents blessing. We married in December 2021 and celebrated our 2nd anniversary yesterday. We come here for a week every year and it is our special and our favourite place. Keep up the great work with the videos. Best wishes John & Karen (Your new subscribers)

Yes very enjoyable and I appreciate you filming the steps to the whalebones as it is a detail some may like to know. On the East side the Abbey side there are loads of ginnels. Me being a nose one found so many cottages, lobster pots. going up higher and higher. The walkways through to the Royal Crescent. Captain Cooks Museum behind the pub near the bridge. There is a cafe around that area too not so famous for its pie veg and mash meals. Really explore it especially the Museum in the park. Lots you may not have seen.

I definitely need to visit Whitby in the winter. I went for the first time in May 2022, it was busy but ok and everyone was friendly and having a good time. This year I went in September and it was awful. There were so many people pushing others about, I was pushed off the curb a few times. You couldn't get near the shops, and people were abusive towards people who had dogs. My dogs blind and some folks were walking straight at him and knocking hims with their legs(he does have a blind dog sign on his harness). I didnt stay all day amd luckily on the way back to the car the bridge was open. The crowd on the other side was horrendous waiting to charge across. One lady with a dog said to me that she was getting out of the way before the bridge closed, she'd had a similar day to me. Earlier in the day there were people forming blocking the bridge and shouting abuse at anyone who wanted to drive over the bridge. I was very disappointed, shocking behaviour. I did stop at Ravenscar on the way back to Filey though, not much there but worth a visit.

Good video but a few facts you got wrong Bram stoker was staying in Whitby 5 yrs after the wreck of the Russian vessel the Dmitry which ran aground on the beach ,a large dog was seen running from the wreck up the stairs to the Abbey which inspired him to write Dracula , and You got mixed up with Captain Scott who was from Plymouth with Captain Cook
