Not at all convinced by the smartphone discussion. Brendan O'Neill had Jonathan Haidt on his podcast recently to talk about his latest book 'The Anxious Generation'. He makes a very convincing argument for the combination of 'helicopter parenting', risk-adverse childhoods and the unsupervised usage of smartphones and social media by very young people as having had a catastrophic effect on Gen Z in the period following 2012. He provides plenty of data which seems pretty incontrovertible.

  • @circattle

Your argument doesn't work. What Timandra is saying it is not the technology, but the fault of the parents, government and teachers. It's weird that the best point that I heard about JSO's attack on Stonehenge was made by the leader of the British Druids: he pointed out that the monument was built as a guide to planting crops and was a product of a Civilizational shift from hunter gatherer to a settled farming society that had to plan its activities. It seems to tell us all we need to know about JSO's hatred of humanity and civilization that this should be their target.

Buckle up everyone, we're going to be in for a very rough ride for the next five years at least. I hope that Reform might be able to pick up a few seats here and there but the first-past-the-post system doesn't help. Andrew Bridgen MP has done a brilliant interview on a channel on here called GB Resistance but it will probably get taken down. Censorship is everywhere now. Personally I agree with Jonathan Haidt about the damage smartphones are doing, he has studied this whole issue in great depth. Some of the younger generations have not learned critical thinking in school and have been brainwashed into believing certain woke ideologies. So they will believe what their smartphone is pumping into their newsfeed. It is very damaging for boys and girls. Suicides amongst teenage girls have rocketed up in the USA since smartphones came out around 2010.
