It is stories, like the one above, that I see myself as a dedicated hermit, friendless, alone...but free baby, and that's something! Much love.
I pretended to be as dramatic as I could while listening to this in a bath tub

Wonderful! I have to thank HorrorBabble for introducing me to Blackwood's works.
A fine story with a little moral message in the twist at the end. And very nicely narrated too. Much appreciated.

Great story!
Good ole Algie, got me fooled alright 👍
Your voice sounds like how silk feels.
What an interesting story by my favorite Algernon Blackwood! Blackwood is always great but this one is a bit different than most of the AB stories I know, perhaps it's just that it doesn't have a supernatural element in it. In any case, I enjoyed both the story and the narration very much. Thank you.
Wow..really good story
Nicely read Jennifer :)
Not for the faint-hearted. Thank you.
Thanks Jen, loved relaxing to this today as I veg at home poorly. 😘

Nice
I like her voice.
Stunningly suspenseful and eerie story. I did find it quite entertaining. However, I am lost as to what actually happens at the end, what the plot exactly was. Was it one huge and ghastly prank or a vivid nightmare that he was woken up from, at breakfast time? Any ideas anybody? What did. I miss? Seems like he was initially getting wickedly framed.

Hunger nightmare?

Framed for a crime, I mean, in a wicked way. And yes, maybe a nightmare related to hunger or brought on by hunger.

You are correct. He was being set up as the fall guy for a crime. He would be judged and probably convicted of serious crimes.
