I got chills as the story reached its climax! So much is left to the imagination (in particular what exactly happens to someone when petrified), and that makes it all the more frightening.

Great job Jen. Thank you! At first I thought this would be connected to "The Black Stone", by Robert E. Howard. It was not and I was pleasantly surprised. This story is good, but sad. I do like the atonement of the character in his final decision. That really is a creature from the hellish outer planes and dimensions of space! It is so docile, but oh so dangerous. Fantastic job! Thank you!

Beautifully narrated Jennifer. A great story. Personally, I think that weird tales transcend gender, when written or read out loud. That said it is always a welcome joy to hear a story written and narrated in the female voice. Love to hear more!

Gripping tale just wish it had ended with the artist giving an account to a third person as to their feelings as they touched the thing in the box before both were cast in stone,& lost, imagination & curiosity collide on the outcome
