Thank you for recognizing that Albanians are part illyrians. There is so much debate around this topic and many whom deny Albanians illyrian heritage despite many evidence suggesting that it's most likely we are descendants. At least partially. We are a mix of original native balkanic people, illyrians, settlers and so on.Many say we aren't illyrians because they were indo European, that our language aligns more with Romania and that our traditions aren't the same. But they don't take into consideration the fact that illyrians were a brotherhood not bloodline, the colonization from the Roman's and Greeks wich were nutritious for erasing cultures, words that do align with illyrian language and the fact that Albania has been influenced and has changed over the years. Not to mention that illyrian artifacts were commonly found in Albanian grounds and that Albanians share 20 to 30% of their dna with illyrians.

Alban, Albana: the name ALBANI is derived from the name of an Illirian tribe called the ARBBR, or ARBERESHE, and later ALBANOI, that lived near Durres. This ilirian name is much more older than the Roman family Albanius which meant FROM ALBA in Latin. The land ALBANIA means LAND OF THE HIGHLANDERS in albanish. Albert, Alberta: a combination of alb from the name Alban and the albanish word BERTAS meaning SCREAM. Albelena: a combination of ALB from the name Alban and the albanish words E LENE meaning THE GIRL WE LEFT. Albulena: a combination of ALB from the name Alban and the albanish word U LEN meaning BORNE. Alberina: a combination of ALB from the name Alban and the albanish word RRIN meaning STAY. Where are the monuments, where is the written material, where is anything that connects Albanians with this area? Wherever you go, scratch underground are the remains of the Slavs, in written or physical form .. Albania emerged in the 20th century as a political creation of the West, as and that they are now making a false state of Kosovo, or as they have always done around the world for their own reasons, Iraq, Syria, Ukraine ... the greatest Albanian hero is a Serb of the Orthodox faith, who according to the arrival of Turks and opportunities at that time to save himself and took the Muslim faith from his country..Albanians came out of the darkness with the Turks

during ottoman times, albanian schools were forbidden while greek and serbian schools were allowed. plus albania is half mountains so people lived in high altitudes (mostly christians) to live away from the ottomans that ran the lowlands. lack of education + mountainous living with scarce resources made us really poor/medieval like. then during communism enver hoxha destroyed a lot of buildings, shut down factories, etc. he even destroyed roads and made them rocky to prevent invasions from serbia and greece. we’ve had a rough history but i hope albania can catch up to a decent living standard like western europe in my life time lol.

The linguistic EVIDENCE in that regard is MOST UNCLEAR; the Albanian language is certainly a distinct branch of the Indo-European family, but, largely because of a dearth of information on the language of the ancient Illyrians, it is difficult to convincingly demonstrate a connection between the two languages. (Some scholars, moreover, dispute such theses, arguing that Illyrians were not autochthonous to Albania and that Albanian derives from a dialect of the now-extinct Thracian language, but again the data are sparse and thus the arguments are difficult to judge.)" britannica/place/Albania/Cultural-institutions

Albanians are descendants of Illyrians but since it was under the Roman Empire for like 1,000 years and then under the Ottoman Empire for more than 500 years, a lot of evidence, cities, and landmarks were destroyed, but still there is a lot of evidence in coins, old ruins, and settlements that can't deny the fact/ reality.

What did Albanians 🇦🇱 have before the Ottoman invasion? 1. Albanians had a University in 1380 in Durrës. To give you an idea: Germany opened its first university, 6 years after Durrës (Heidelberg University). 2. Albanians had 6 fully developed cities as much as Florence, Venice, Marseille or Paris. (Durrës, Shkodra, Drishti, Lezha, Berat and Preveza). 3. Albanians had the aristocratic class with 8 noble families (Balshaj, Topiaj, Muzakaj, Kastrioti, Arianiti, Zebenishta, Spataj and Dukagjini) connected by marriage even with the Habsburgs and the Bourbons. 4. Albanians had the humanist philosophers, who with their genius ideas, were advisers to the imperial families in Hungary, Italy and Austria (Gjon Gazhuli, Pal Ungjëlli, Leonik Tomeo and Gjon Durrsaku). 5. Albanian cities had statutes and were governed by democracy while at the same time America for example it was governed by the Cherokee Indians or the Aztec tribes who still drank human blood and lived as cannibals. 6. In Durrës, intellectualism was so high that we have documented in the 12th century for the first time the note of protest of an Orthodox Metropolitan, who writes to Constantinople, against slavery, 300 years before it started as a debate in Europe. 7. In Durrës, trade was done even with Tunisia, Ukraine and France, since the 5th century. While at the same time for example the Scandinavian countries still lived by worshiping the tree or the mountain. 8. The Church of Albania had issued a Cardinal (and a cardinal was no small thing then). What happened next? The Ottomans just came and for 500 years made that every Albanian forgot who they really were.
