I love teaching, but sometimes it's very difficult. In this video I show you the first (and hopefully only) lesson I gave to a young saxophonist named Ryan Devlin. He is in real trouble and needs to learn the true ways of the Chosen One!

If you put Ryan's playing on 0.25 speed, then upload the slowed version and put it on 0.25 speed again, it actually sounds like smooth jazz. Ryan was playing smooth jazz all along, he was just speedrunning it.

Ryan: Saxologic's classical tenor playing really put me down. I hope Dave doesn't roast my skills too.. Dave:

which level is appropriate to lay back to for smooth jazz? I feel like 'any sus chord is a little too far.
you forgot about the reverb haha, it must last for a day or two after you stop playing to be considered good.
Does skillshare have a lesson on laying back?

100%, taught by Jacob himself
Who is this Ryan Devlin? I thought Ryan Devlin played Mercer Hayes on "Veronica Mars" and Billy Cordero on "Jane the Virgin", etc. This Ryan Devlin wannabee not only can't act but what kind of sound is coming from his sax? I'm just so glad he came to you Dave to at least learn a bit of proper sax playing. Too bad you couldn't get him to overcome his 13 or 14 years of making noise on that thing he calls a sax.
Hahahahahahahahaha
Some people will never learn.
Jimmy Forrest and Wayne Shorter ...
Ah I see you’re wearing the Jacob Mann shirt

Ryan, nice playing (and gracefully adapting to ridiculousness)! This borders on blasphemy! (Brecker, Coltrane, Joe Henderson -- not professional! -- but I guess it depends on which god you worship - Ha) Glad to see Ryan ended up on the right note (Dave your icon almost melted during the last phrase that Ryan played.)
Must worship Kenny G 🙇
Has kenny g ever watched any of your videos?

This is more of a comedy show than anything right can't you just put up some great videos of Coleman Hawkins and call it a day

Kenny G....GAAAAAAAAAA
haha
I know these videos are meant to be a joke but I genetically want to learn how to sound more smooth jazzy , it seems like my notes are just blown straight with no character
The Kenny G bashing is not cool, if you don’t like don’t listen (I am not even a fan), this is bullying, this ain’t cool

Have you not seen my many many satirical videos and also videos defending KG against jazz purists, or are you just stupid? Actual question.
