However, it looks like one important thing for retail investors, for now, is to search for brokerage firms in the US which serve in Hong Kong stock exchange.. I am in until this stock reaches where it has to be..

i think its hilarious that all of us 20/30 somethings are so concerned about this when its only been 2-3 years. we have no perspective at all. these things takes years and years sometimes decades to pan out.

The common theme about mkts being forward looking seems to apply to companies outside chynah ? But tt said, how are the share buy-backs coming along ?

If you focus on the business model you need to focus on the business environment that Alibaba and Chinese Tech operates. You can't compare that to the US environment. China stocks will always trade at a discount to the US peers. US tech stocks have dropped significantly. Would you rather keep your money in Chinese tech or switch and buy US ones?

I don't think always is quite the right way to phrase it, just because if you look historically on most ratios Chinese tech traded relatively similar to US tech but with the recent worry over geopolitics we will likely see a sustained discount until something else comes along in the next 3-7 years and then it'll probably normalize a bit better.

5 SOE's chose to delist voluntarily due to national security concerns. It was virtually a non-event to the market after the announcement on last Friday.

Actually, the worlds most advanced form of e-commerce are in china, and even most of the goods in amazon is produced in China. If China can compete freely globally, it's easy to see that competitors like Amazon will be crushed like potato chips. Just because of political issues and some cold war thoughts the competition is incomplete, but after years I think the more advanced economy will show up their potential at last.

a couple of things, 1. the Chinese government is not a complete black box. It is not transparent, but with enough experience, you can make better judgement. An example was, last year there was a Singaporean CFA claiming that China should and is likely to allow Chinese citizens to invest overseas because it will help RMB internationalization. I told him it is not going to happen. He said I do not understand China... oh well. If he really understands the system, he would have known that the strength of RMB to a great extent comes from the restrictions on Chinese citizens. If the strength is lost, is there still any point to talk about internationalization? So it does pay off to sincerely learn to understand the system better, rather than either imagining everything in your brain, or simply claiming there is no point to understand the black box. 2. You mentioned baba performed well through the property market downturn since 2020, unfortunately the real crisis is yet to come.

It's not how good a company is, stk evaluation is never fair and a speculation games by the big boys
