NOTE: I wouldn't necessarily call Max Lucado a "false teacher". But he certainly is endorsing false teachers and, in doing so, contributing to the problem of false teaching in the church. This is something that Christians need to be made aware of so that they can avoid unbiblical doctrine.

I found this Salvation message on OakHills Church website and it is a works based salvation message. Not good at all! Here is what I found: Salvation is a free gift of God. The death of Christ on the cross is the only sufficient payment for our sins. All have sinned, but all can be saved. This salvation is available for any who put their trust in Christ as Savior (Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, John 3:16). Those trusting Christ should repent of sin, confess their faith, and be baptized (Romans 10:9, Acts 2:38). Love, Shed BLOOD of Jesus Christ!

I have read many of Max Lucado's books, and I use to love them. I mistakenly thought he was a solid bible teacher. Within the last year or so, he was in the paper, as an LGBTI lobby group had 'dug up' a sermon he gave over 10 years, where he preached the truth about what the Bible's say's about same-sex relationships. Max Lucado then publicly caved in, he publicly apologised for being 'unloving' towards the LGBTI community, and retracted everything. That's when I knew he was a 'people-pleaser', and not standing on God's Word.

Many years ago, I read one of Max Lucado's books that vividly described the Saving Work of Christ on the Cross. Made the mistake of reading it at lunchtime and was moved to tears in the restaurant where I read it. Over the years, I'd seen him appear on TV and always had solid statements theologically, so he built that reputation. Apparently, he more recently has traded on that rep to monetize it with other popular teachers who aren't so biblically sound and has thereby diluted his own message. Now, he's at the point where he has to save his popularity by apologizing for previous solid teaching about immorality. Before that apology, I caught a home-based online devotional he led during 2020; it was so devoid of anything meaningful, just syrupy emotions, that I couldn't stay with it. Truly disappointed. I do pray that he would repent and return to God before the pop culture gets too much ahold of him.

I currently have The Jesus Bible in which he is one of the people who has written an article alongside John Piper, Ravi Zacharias, Louie Giglio and others. It ends up being so easy for a Believer to get lost sometimes when you find false teachers being packed in the same box as those who are doctrinally sound, as is in this Jesus Bible case. I nearly forgot about this guy! I put him in the same ballpark as Thomas Kinkade. Feel-good, toasty warm, but theologically bankrupt or famished at best. But also a sign. With many false teachers, what attracts people to them isn’t just because of deception, but because of what they offer. Christianity, the true one, should also be warm and welcoming and hospitable as a RESULT of the gospel. It may not BE our gospel like the heretics, but it is one of the signs that we aren’t hypocrites about the love we preach. The Bible endorses correction, not coldness.

I read The King James Version Bible. I Timothy 2:12 is not saying that a woman can not teach or preach. It was saying that a wife couldn't be dominated over her husband. Back in those days if a wife did not understand something that was preached or taught in church, she had to get an understanding from her husband outside of church. She wasn't allowed to ask questions in church. If she knew something, she wasn't allowed to teach it to her husband or members in church. She would have been out of line. That was in those days. Some Pastors do not allow their members to ask questions in Bible Studies and some does. Well in churches where members can ask questions, a wife can asks questions, she does not have to wait to ask her husband when they are alone. Some churches let women teach Bible Study. For people that believe that a woman can't teach or preach, I would like to know what a woman can do in church? Does a saved woman have a ministry? Does a saved woman has a calling and what would it be? Back to I Timothy 2. It''s about a husband and wife. I Timothy 2:11 Let the women learn in silence with all subjection. (Who is the woman being subjected to?) I Timothy 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. (Notice this verse does not say men, but man instead. So who is "the man" this verse is talking about? The husband) I Timothy 2:13 For Adam was first formed then Eve. (Adam was Eve's husband. Eve was Adam's wife.) I Timothy 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. I Timothy 2:15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety. (They = husband and wife)

Agree. The Bible is not against women teaching or leading. What about Deborah the judge? Contrary to popular opinion, Paul never taught anything that wasn’t in Torah. He was a rabbi, a Torah teacher, and Torah is not against faith in Messiah. He upheld the teachings of God’s Word as given through Moses. If Paul is teaching something as doctrine, we must be able to back it up in Scripture (the original Scripture, called the OT), otherwise, Paul is just sharing his opinion on a certain topic. (such as head coverings, etc.) I hope Colin reads these comments and stops saying that these woman teachers are false teachers on that basis alone. This message hurts the church and his ministry.

I have a question that I've turned over in my head often lately. I would be the first to say a woman ought not teach adult mixed audiences based on the Bible's teachings. But what about female teachers on you tube or other places online? What if a woman wants to put out Christian content? If we are being absolutely pendantic, she can't teach males, but she has no control over who watches her material. Does this mean she cannot teach online through a KZread channel or some such?

Rather than admit we have no faith to lay hold of the promises of God, we are offended if others make the observations of our lack of such. We would rather nullify the truth of God's word than acknowledge our lack of faith. But what do the scriptures say? Nothing is impossible to him that believes. And again, All the promises of God are yea and in him Amen. To be void of faith is to be void of hope but I would rather have us know that we are not without hope nor without God in this world as is the case with the unbelievers. Have faith in God, if we do not believe the testimony that God gave of his son, we make him a liar. But let God be true though every man be a liar. What if some do not believe, shall that make the faithfulness of God without effect? God forbid. And this is the confidence we have in him, we know whatever we ask according to his will we know he hears us. And if we know he hears us whatever we ask, we know we have the petitions that we desire of him. He has given us his word wherein he has caused us to hope. We don't have to descend into the deep to bring Christ up from the dead. We don't have to ascend into heaven to bring Christ down from above. The word is nigh thee, even in your mouth and in your heart, the word of faith which we preach. Trust in the Lord and do good and he shall give you the desires of your heart. But if your heart condemns you repent for God delights to show mercy. If he marked our sins where would we be. May great grace and mercy rest upon the churches of God and of Christ.

11.09.2021 I believe that Max Lucado recently, as within the past few months ... either retracted or apologized for his negative beliefs/statements from decades ago concerning the alphabet crowd's lifestyle. Now, he may not necessarily endorse their lifestyle, but he doesn't see anything unbiblical about it or worse yet; not staying with his original Biblical stand. There's a Utube video some where that gives his opinions. Sorry, I don't recall it more clearly, but that's a huge reason that I don't buy his products or follow him anymore.🤷‍♀️

Spencer Smith outlines the contrast between "neovangelicals" and fundamental, Bible-believing Christians. Max falls into the former category. It's not called "sheep's clothing" for no reason.

Hey Colin! You said that you have an issue with the statement "there was something about this man's faith that activated a miracle". I get your point, that it's God who does the miracle and not the faith that directly causes it, but the idea that faith is involved is actually a Biblical viewpoint. Just to make you aware of a few verses here that might contradict what you're implying about Cristine Cain's comment: Mark 5:34 "And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.” Matthew 8:13 "And to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; let it be done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed at that very moment." Why would Jesus say that "your faith has made you well" in the first passage, if he didn't mean that "your faith has made you well"? Can you please explain to me why the comment of Jesus in this passage is different from "this man's faith activated a miracle"? If it's true what you say, that words are important, and that faith is never to be misunderstood as the thing that "activates" or "causes" a miracle, then why would Jesus not be clear? Is Jesus mistaken or confused? I have never listened to Cristine Cain, and I don't contend for the prosperity gospel, but I think it hurts your message when you take snippets of what someone said while they're paraphrasing a Biblical truth and then focus so much on the semantics that you're willing to completely throw the baby out with the bath water. It seems that your disdain for some of these people (or perhaps zeal for exposing false teachers) is so strong that you will latch onto the tiniest possible semantical issue and risk your credibility. I commend you for trying to expose the truth and to ensure that Christians are not being misled, but please, brother, give us only irrefutable truth and not semantics-based commentary.

The faith of those mentioned in scripture is in the absolute truth that Christ was God in flesh, this blind faith in the person of Christ provided healing. The "faith" in the church today puts the emphasis on man himself, as if we hold the power of God within us and in turn God must provide whatever we ask for. Its subtle, but it's poison nonetheless and will lead millions astray.

Never was much into Max Lucado. He seems like a weak, shallow teacher, and he seems to be a compromising type as well. To be honest, I don't know many other solid teachers that reference, support, or know him (but I could be wrong). The things I do know about him is that he writes a lot of books and I believe he's a pastor or leading figure in the Church of Christ (who believe you need to be baptized to be saved despite Ephesians 2:8-9, as well as forbidding use of musical instruments in worship singing despite the mention of instruments in the Psalms), unless Lucado isn't associated with that denomination any more. If he compromising about false teachers as well, just another reason to avoid him.

The only thing I disagree with on is avoiding all of Lucado's works; that "Safe in the Shepherd's Arms" book is actually Biblically sound and still is worth reading, and it's the only Lucado thing I'm keeping; I've never really consumed any other content by him (I'm not even sure about his Encouraging Word Study Bible, but then again, study Bibles have the dangers of inerrant teachings in the notes/commentary as well [look at Jimmy Swaggart's Expositor Study Bible; that so-called "Bible" is something I'd burn if I had a copy of]), especially since they're still no replacement for God and the Bible.

I agree that men are appointed as head in the marriage relationship, which means a woman can't serve as an elder in church because that would make her responsible for guarding and overseeing her husband. However, I'm not convinced that women are never free to teach men. Priscilla exegeted correct doctrine alongside her husband Aquila to Apollos who's doctrine needed refining. Priscilla functioned as a teacher to a man but in a non-authoritative and non-leadership capacity. 🙂 You might like to listen to Mike Winger's KZread series on Women in Ministry to get detailed insight into this? The online article 'Should a woman teach in church?' by Ray Stedman is also worth a read. Blessings in Jesus.

Good evening Colin Miller GOD bless you thanks for the video. I don't know if you have ever listened to a Christine Cain talk but she has to mention the abuse she suffered as a young girl and of course that gets sympathy from those listening to her and let's the hearers guard down and accepting her "teaching" as sound doctrine. The use of mot and bailey easily applies here. Be well stay safe and take care.

You must be a very wicked humanbeing to think that people talk about their child abuse for self pity, good heavens. I hope your kids don't get abused bcos of your tongue. This is the most disgusting thing I have ever read, there is no place you lots won't go to.

@@dcc-randomstorieswithmel7424 of course its not a joke and now a days it's more of an epidemic that children do suffer from all kinds of abuse from peers to adults. To assess that anyone should keep quiet is a total irrelevancy since anyone can comment on anything they so choose to. And yes I am a wicked human being because I have sinned and fallen short of the glory of GOD just as all the rest of humanity has done which is why this channel of Mr. Miller so focuses on JESUSCHRISTO and HIS finished work at the cross to save mankind from sin and eternal death. So continue to enjoy your day/afternoon/evening.

Ensure you read the 2 Timothy 2 for full context regarding women teaching. “I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting; in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works. Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.” ‭‭I Timothy‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬-‭15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ When taken in context , one does not conclude with resounding clarity, as indicated in this video, Scripture’s condemnation of women teaching in the church.

By default itd be invalid since a woman is simply not allowed to run a ministry its just that simple...so even in the extremely rare example one might be rightfully orthodox on Doctrine....there still ironically disobeying a direct Biblical mandate by being a "women head pastor" by default. Thats something thats very hard for well meaning Christian women to understand because the first thing that comes to mind is an emotional response egged on in the era of feminists/social justice nonsense like" thats sexist or anti women" but its simply not and God knows what's best for us period and that is Biblical bottom line ya know!. Now of course this does not mean Christian women can do Bible studies with men and women or work in churches and preach the Gospel etc etc, it does mean they are not to ever have authority as a "head pastor/pastor" in a church or ministry period now and forever, so if thi Mrs elliot is claiming to be a Minister and in charge of a church then shes by default directly disobeying and in defiance of scripture so that alone would unfortunately render any other valid orthodoxy she may have invalid in this case ya know.

Lucado is about 3 years beyond the point of needing to repent. He unfortunately believes that he is bigger than God and the Bible and can forge his own way regardless of the truth. His pride has destroyed the truth he used to speak. He is a false teacher at this point who needs to publicly repent.
