A Routine Test Led to My Hodgkin Lymphoma Diagnosis: Danielle's Story | The Patient Story

It was a shock to Danielle and her family, when her mother was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer, myelofibrosis. Her mother needed a donor to get a stem cell transplant and tests showed Danielle was a good match. Danielle then went to get a routine chest x-ray and it showed a tumor near her heart. She was then diagnosed with stage 1 classical Hodgkin lymphoma.
Danielle began chemotherapy in January and achieved remission after 4 cycles. However, after finishing the full 8 cycles of chemotherapy, a follow-up PET scan showed the cancer wasn't gone.
Danielle underwent immunotherapy to get back into remission before receiving an autologous stem cell transplant from her brother. A PET scan 100 days post-transplant showed no evidence of disease!

The way you found out was so good.. my stepbrother has leukaemia and his full sister did tests to be his donor but the tests showed she had leukaemia as well.. caught very early.. she is ok and in remission but my stepbrother is not too well but so so happy he was the reason his sister found out she had cancer and could be saved. Wishing you a very healthy and long happy life ❤

I did not understand the hair thing till my sister got lymphoma. We are 7 hours away from each other. When I saw her she had lost her hair. A 76 yr old without hair, she had always been the girly one. The next year I saw her.. her hair was back. No longer gray but a bright red. Growing up, she had black hair. Her chemo she did not mind...it was the 4 pound groin tumor removal that hurt her so much. But...4 yrs cancer free. So I have hope and pray you will be cancer free the rest of your life.

Congrats to you! But sorry you have to deal with a healthcare system which depends upon profit. How awful, to think lifesaving treatment is "expensive" for the patient. Incredibly cruel, really. It should be 100% free for anyone who needs it.

So you and your mom fighting cancer at same time? Did your mom ever get someone else to give her stem cells? This also had to effect your brother too having surgery to give you a chance to survive. Wow that was a lot for you and your family. Thanks for sharing your story. I am interested in hearing more about how your mom 🧑 s doing too. Was she going through chemo at same time as you?

We all deserve to die. That's why we all do die. Life is a gift from God that we did not and can not earn. He came down and died on the cross to save us from the second death. Repent and trust Jesus Christ, Lord of all.

You show no empathy for this cancer stricken women, but Jesus at least shows us love! So, let me get this right what u r saying, if u had or do have a child, and they had cancer, you would say to them, “well, u don’t deserve to live, it’s a gift.” You’re a cold hearted person.
