A River Runs Through It-The TransRockies Run-Part 3

The TransRockies is a 6 day stage race in the mountains of Colorado from Buena Vista to Beaver Creek. It covers 120 miles, and includes 20k feet of vertical gain. I'd never done anything like this before, and I completely underestimated how difficult it would be. YIKES!
This episode covers stages 4-6. We run through a river, through fields of wildflowers, up and over Vail, and I complain about my sore body every 3 minutes :)
A huge thanks to everyone at TransRockies for organizing this world class event. I had the time of my life. www.transrockies.com

Ouch! I think I'm still sore :) This was without a doubt one of the toughest short adventures of my life, but also the most beautiful. I got to see parts of my state that I'd never seen before, and the wildflowers, WOW! Stage races are the real deal, and I'll forever have fond memories of the Trans Rockies and everyone involved. Thanks for following along, and hope that you're all enjoying the last bits of summer (in the northern hemisphere).

Damn Ryan, 6th place overall? Look at you go with your badass. Someone needs to run a background check on you with the guns you’re packing. Boom! Way to go. And no you’re not boring us with this stuff. Keep showing us beautiful landscapes, beautiful people, and the history lessons. I love the Ryan Van Duzer school of life.

Appreciate you Ryan! I started watching your videos sometime last year and have been addicted ever since. Originally I was intrigued by your cycling videos and was so inspired I started running in February and have now run two half marathons. I see ultras and lots of bikepacking in my future. Your love for people is contagious. Well done!

Ryan Van Duzer the half’s went well. I was definitely hurting but the second was better than the first. Learning a lot about pacing and strengthening ligaments and joints and such for longer efforts. All the pain and struggle is a no brainer when the payoff is experiencing the adventure. Thanks again for the videos.

I'd love a reflective video talking about how you got into cycling and eventually running and what kind of journey it took you on. I think it would serve as good motivation to the newbies like me who are staring at a 5k nervously hoping to someday in the not too distant future do something crazy like an ultra.Best of luck RV. -Dan

Great coverage once again. Can't remember if I've asked you this before. You use the Sony FDR-X3000? Is the sound quality that good while you are running and talking? Do you use a lapel mic or is it not necessary? I've heard the GoPro sound recording is not as good. Thoughts please.

Well done Ryan, that was some run you have done.👍 That must have been really hard going, really enjoyed watching what you have done that is something I would like to do, it real does test your mental and physical fitness. The scenery is amazing and also the community of running is amazing. I might have an idea for keeping blisters at bay, this might sound or feel weird, smear vaseline all over your feet and toes, and then your running socks on, that should stop the friction happening with your feet in your running shoes. All the best from your good Scottish friend Brian 🇺🇸👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
