It brought tears to me when he was talking about getting a new mirror. It reminded of me when I used to be called ugly. I still can't even look at myself properly in the mirror. Thanks for inspiring!:)

I was adopted, and was in a similar situation as the the person in this poem. I've been bullied so much that I have contemplated suicide many times. I am lucky some of my family saw the depression, and gave me support. In the past few years I've been having a rough time if things, and Shane has given me the strength to pull through. so I thank you Shane. There is no need to thank me, but since you did, you're most welcome my friend.

I've made a collage with some of your quotes and put it in my binder for school in case I'm having a bad day. Thank you for making a difference in my life.

its not even your poem "to this day" that I love, I've listened to so many and every time I listen again I catch something new that I had overlooked the first time, a year ago I had been stuck in a very hard place and was struggling very hard. and I heard your poem "to this day" and started to look into your other poems. I love all of the points you make in all of them and how much emotion you can add to them. your poems have literally made me laugh and cry and you have given me a whole new perspective on everything I see or feel. your poetry is one of many things that have gotten me where I am today ❤

Today they played this in my school at a bullying assembly. I barely got to hear it but what I heard of it made me want to hear more. I looked it up and its absolutely breathtaking, along with his other poems. I say I look up to celebrities, my sibling, older friends, my parents..... but Shane is beyond that. He brought inspiring to a whole new level I was never bullied but that poem and video breaks my heart. I hope to see more from you in the future and good luck to you

I watched To this day in school in grade 6, I show it to so many people. I am now an early grade 12 graduate. And looking into college. The video makes me cry but I’m so very appreciative of its existence as it has helped me and so many others overcome so many things. You are helping so many with your video. Even 12 year old children who felt they had nothing to offer to the world, you made a difference to children like me. I am forever grateful. And you were so right.., they were wrong. They had to have been wrong.

I sat in the back of my classroom crying when I watch it, and spent the following weeks working with my principles and other students to create an Anti-Bully week, based around your poem. In the end we had a team of 19 students working together and taking a stand against bullying, and we all owe it to you, so thank you.

Its so rare and rewarding to see something sublime and beautiful that wasn't engineered to push merchandise, take money or accrue likes. That wasn't part of a campaign or a strategy. A thing of purity like this deserves the attention of the world. And it's maddeningly beautiful. You're a star.

Thanks for putting yourself "out there" - it can't be easy to have to relive this pain inflicted on you as a child. Thanks for sharing this and for encouraging me to do more to protect my own kids, students and neighbor kids against bullies. I want to help erase the "brain worms" -the negative self-talk which follows the victims throughout life and re-train their brains with messages of hope, happiness and how very worthy they are to give and receive love as they move into adulthood.

I love your writing. I was brought to the To This Day project by a friend. I cannot explain how inspirational this was. I have been bullied. I did not ever want to face my peers or communicate with anyone if it meant leaving my bed. I have had anxiety and depression for a while now. Last year, I was hospitalised. I am recovery and on my way to being happy. I just really needed you to know, things like this build me (and everyone else in similar situations) up every time I here them. You're story is inspirational and not sugar-coated. I can only hope I can become half of the person you have.

@ShaneKoyczan To you a owe a HUGE thanks You are really truly inspired me I've started to edit and write a few of my own pieces that I plan on showing to my school when I am finished. I was a kid who grew up knowing I was different and bullied for the fact that I stood out. But now when someone says rude comment or I see bullying in the hallways at my school, I actually just hug them then whisper in their ear "Please stop, or at least let your anger, or what ever it is out on me. I understand"

When I first heard about the to this day project it was through a poem, a beautifully written poem that expressed an amount of emotion that I would have previously imagined to be ineffable. I didn't see a single man, I heard a voice that spoke for the millions of people that have gone through a time in their life when they felt like giving up on themselves because the words or actions of others was a weight too heavy to bear. When I heard that poem it inspired me.

When I saw the man behind it the words echoing through my mind weren't twisted because of how he looked. I saw an amazing, inspiring man who has inspired hundreds of thousands if not millions of people around the world to keep moving forward even if it seems the weight of the world stands in your way. Voices are faceless, the emotion and thought provoked by those voices is what matters, not the weight, appearance, race, sexuality, or any other traits of the people behind them.

(continued) How many freshman and sophomore students in highschool can say they got to do something like that. Ever since then I spend my free time listening to your other work, and I can even recite some of them from memory. Normally if something can make me cry I would stay away, but I can't do that with what you write. you pull me from every bit of depression, you inspire me, and you make me realize that, hey, everything is going to be okay. I owe you big time for that. Thank you =)

I anonymously emailed my school district the link to "To This Day". I'm not being bullied, nor am I a bully, but that video was truly life changing. It was extremely heartfelt and I felt as if I was the person being bullied. Thank you so very much.
