A quick finish with my Indian BLOCK PRINTED fabric scraps!
After much thought I finally decided what to make with the Indian block printed fabric I have leftover from the trip I took to India, many years ago. This came together so quickly, and I spent a lovely day stitching on this a few weeks ago. I can't wait to use this picnic blanket in the garden with Agnes this summer!

It's a blessing to hear you comment often how "very pleased" you are with your work....the ability to be satisfied with one's efforts indicates a very healthy outlook on life.
Thank you Kate, for your casual and soothing ways. You are a gift!
I love how something small, like a scrap of fabric, transports us to another time and place. And I love how you celebrate the story of each piece either in a quilt or as a thread bunny.❤

I think your thread bunnies would be fun if they were strung together like a garland and hung in the top of a window.

What is a thread bunny please?
@jenndotson6718
Жыл бұрын
@@bethanyrosebanks2882 A thread bunny is a scrap of fabric you use before and after chain piecing your quilt blocks or strips together so that the tails are “pre-handled” before starting your next batch of chain piecing or strips. I learned about them from Kate here on her videos and they are AWESOME in how easy they make dealing with threads.

I am mesmerized by your videos! I can’t thank you enough for how inspiring you are Kate for me who has never quilted before! Absolutely love the Indian block print quilt you are making. I need to start one for its healing therapy for my health problems!
I rarely comment, but I do look forward to your videos. Today, I am unable to resist. While you were speaking, I suddenly realized I was nodding, "Yes", and making many comments! I too have loads of scraps to use up. My sister and I sew dresses for an orphanage in Africa and I take the scraps to make quilts for the grandmother's that care for these children. It is so much fun to work with scraps. I haven't done that many, but do when time and energy permit. So enjoy your content!🇨🇦

I love that u use scraps - and make them beautiful too! What lovely memories
I love scrappy quilts! Thank you for posting this!
Hello from Pennsylvania USA. I do not quilt, but I enjoy your videos so much. I do sew. I am enjoying my tea watching you pin. I am excited for the finish. Enjoyed your spinning wheel. Stay safe.
I love the modern hand quilting. When I was first doing hand quilting , it was 12 stitches to the inch! I did 4 king size, 130" x 140". My step father made me a quilting frame, it had rollers to advance the quilt as I did about 10". I have 2 of those quilts, 1 was worn out, 1 just gone(?), i now have some of my quilts machine quilted, & a great many of the tops i make, I tie & sell inexpensively or gift/donate. I sew 2 - 10 hours about 300+- daily. I admit to being a (possible), hoarder of fabric. Batiks are an addiction for me. That's fabric I design quilts fir me alone. If anyone saw my studio ( 12 x 14 ft.), they might be tempted to have me "committed "! I love the life you have created, and the support your family does for you. Enjoy spring.
THANK YOU !!!! I LOVE your videos !!! And most of all your conversation… GOD BLESS YOU !!❤️🤗😘🙏🌹
Reminds me of a Gees Bend quilt. Group of ladies from Alabama.

Kate, Thank you so much. I too am a scrap quilter. I so share your joy when we find the perfect project when we can “use it up”
I was so happy to see this scrappy quilt. I have a similar collection of pillow ticking fabrics that I've been wondering what to do with and now, I have a project in mind thanks to you. But FIRST, I must finish the current quilt I'm working on that you also inspired. The hexie quilt you have been working on for Agnes was just so pretty that I had to try my hand at a similar quilt. So far, I've got about 900 1" hexies sewn together and will continue on with another 400 to 500 before I'm happy with the size. Thank you for all the inspiration and love you share with us!
So nice to see you this day, Kate. Love how your quilt turned out. Just like that. It felt so free to become what it wanted to be. Made me think about my own fabrics that wait for me to pay attention. Spring is in the air and things are beginning to come alive. Enjoy your week, Kate. Until we meet again.
I really enjoy peeking in on your beautiful life! Thank you for all you share with us.
Marvelous use of scraps. You are SO inspiring, Kate.
thank you,,I take such joy in watching your projects take shape..
Love this video and quilt. Love the scrappiness of quilt and binding!🌺🌺🌺
You have such a good eye for what works together! I love these block prints.
Spray baste is very nice. It lets me feel secure about no wrinkles on the back. I do use safety pins every 6 inches. I can fold up the quilt and set it aside for a while knowing nothing is shifted before I quilt it. I love scrappy quilts, so your Indian stripes are a delight. My backs are often multipieced as well. It makes me happy to use up cloth that would be wasted. Hugs to you. ))
Hello Kate, I was super excited to hear you talk about your trip to India and your reaction to the vastly different way of life in the smaller cities more so than big ones. I watched you quilt and suddenly realized there's no wadding - but for a summer picnic, it's not needed. Might also be fun on the picnic table too. It does have a lovely summery feel to the colors. That's just a great way to enjoy the memories of your trip. I don't know if I ever thanked you for introducing me to Arne & Carlos - it was when you made their Christmas Star from bits of wood and fairy lights. Like you, I love to see 'the hand of the maker' in textiles and cloth collected during travels are so valuable. I find it hard to part with even the tiny scraps, so I shred them and make paper with them. I am building a flip book of pages made from my favourite fabrics.
