Nice idea, there have been too many times I have lost a color against a dominant color in a traditional skinner blend. Nothing against Judith’s technique. Great work

Thank you so much, Pauline!! Bless your heart!! And yes, I totally agree. And also absolutely nothing against Judith's technique...I just see this as another way to blend but giving the option of keeping the original 2 colors that you started with in the blend. Again, thank you and sending you my big hugs! :)

I've seen so many other clay-ers mash the sides in when the blend becomes too wide. You just fold it. No biggie. Mind blown!

This is a fantastic way to update the skinner blend! I can't believe I am just now seeing this for the first time. 😳 😮 I have always off set my triangles to get more pure color on both ends.

So this is the Skinner-Schiller blend ? Try saying that 5 times in a row. A really useful way of having more control over the colours. Thank you for sharing Laura..

Definitely going to try this. I developed a block with the technique because I tried the tear drop and the traditional way but this seems like a far less fussy method. Thank you!

What type of pasta maker do you use? Is it common electric or did you put an attachment on it?

  • @laurajschiller

I use an atlas pasta machine. 150 or 180...either works great!! Mine has a hand crank. I used to use a motor on the machine, but the noise and sometimes it would take to long for me when the clay went through...I am WAAAAY impatient! LOLOL!! But the motors to those machines are nice too. The only thing about the motor attachment (other than the noise) that I don't like is that they can wear out. And those motors can be costly. I hope this helps. Sending you my hugs! :)

It would have been helpful to know the brand and name of the colors. Are you using fuchsia, cad red, zinc yellow, cad yellow . . . ?

  • @laurajschiller

I totally understand that. I usually blend my brands altogether, so that may not help so much. But...another video possibly on colors and blending them may have to be in the works. However, just an FYI- I have a real love for Kato clay Fuchsia and yellow blends... Thank you for your comment!! Hugs! :)
