Well, welcome Vivian!! I am thrilled you are trying out your hopefully new journey in polymer clay!! This is a wonderful medium to work with and I hope you will find just as I did what a wonderfully fun time you get in playing with this stuff!! LOLOL!! I would say to you...do not give up. For many the learning curve can be daunting. Reducing a cane takes practice...just like playing a piano. But the more you do the better you will become. So, don't lose hope with this stuff....and if it does go bad you can always chop up the bad stuff and create Natasha's!! There is always a use your clay...even the stuff we think we have totally made a mess of....in my book...Never say never. There is always a way. I am glad though that my video encouraged you and I hope you will find my videos moving forward a big help as well. Sending you my biggest of big hugs!! :)

You can absolutely do this!! If you're worried...Take your time, and just an FYI- my favorite clay to do casework in, is Kato Polyclay. Kato clay is wonderful for reduction in keeping whatever design created in a larger cane the same when it is reduced. Hopefully that may help. Sending hugs! :)

Thanks so much Laura for all your great videos. Im just starting my clay journey and your designs are so pretty. Love your series videos, especially the Natasha's, i can see the possibilities are endless, once i can perfect the skill 🙃 What i really struggle with is how much clay i should start with, I keep coming up short causing the canes not to be long enough unless i reduce it so much making it too thin 🤪 It would be great if you could do a video on how you judge how much clay to use for the various components. I know i can save scraps and offcuts but as a newbie I don't have stacks of clay or enough room at the moment to store 😢 Thanks for any advice or tips you could give on this? Thanks again so much for sharing your expertise and inspiring us to have a go ❤

Hey Miss Kim!! Thank you so much for your kind and wonderful compliment!! Bless you!! ...also, Welcome to polymer clay and the start of a journey you will come to love!! When it comes to canes and how much clay to use...that's a really good suggestion!! I will definitely have to look at doing a video on this!! I have put it off, but it would help to round out some of my beginning videos. Again, thank you. As to storage. Check out my few videos on that, especially the pencil boxes if you haven't already. I love those things!! They are great for clay storage. ...and again, you are most welcome and sending you my biggest of big hugs! :)

This is so useful to me! I don't know what it is about me, but I deform every flower cane I make just by trying to slice it. They can be an hour old or a week old, and they still look completely wonky when I slice them. So a petal can just might be the thing I need to focus on. This just may save me from going insane(r). Thanks!

If you put it in the fridge or freezer for a little while before you slice it, it might help keep it from warping.
