Polymer Clay Ombre technique| Skinner Blends, Teardrop Blends or Gradient Blends| color theory

Ombre is the blending of one color hue to another, usually moving tints and shades from light to dark. It has become a popular feature for hair coloring, nail art, and even baking, in addition to its uses in home decorating and graphic design.
In this video, you will see folds in polymer clay known as Skinner Blends, Teardrop Blends or Gradient Blends, creating ombre effect.

Nice work. I'm glad I'm not the only one that uses tear drops to make skinner blends. Some hard core clay enthusiasts say you have to make triangles lol.

no liquid clay needed. if clay is conditioned properly it should bind together with ease.

What you’re calling “ombré” is widely known as a “gradient” among polymer enthusiasts. I gather you’re new to polymer. ☺️ (Consider changing the name of your vid so that people searching for “gradients” will find it.) Using teardrops to make gradients is a LOT faster than making triangles, though there are instances where you *hafta* use triangles, like when you want just one corner to have a particular color, but the rest of the time, for a standard gradient, teardrops work just as well and are much quicker! Good luck on your polymer journey; you’re in for a LOT of fun! 👍🏻

hush and begone with your underhanded comment. I'm pretty sure that the people who landed on this video most likely searched for ombre tutorials for polymer clay. If you are one of these polymer clay enthusiast that you speak of, feel free to create your own channel and content. then you can call it whatever you like.

I actually searched gradient first (by mere accident, I am an absolute beginner with no skills) and only found 1 video. When I searched ombre I found many. If ombre is incorrect, the rest of KZread doesn't know it. So we may as well herd with the masses! 😉

P.s. what actually is the difference between a tear drop and triangle in this instance? Is it the roundness of the endges in a tear-drop that makes the difference? Or the thickness of them? And if anyone has any suggestions doing this with air dry clay, I'm all ears. It's so darn fiddly and loves to dry out as quickly as Usain Bolt runs.

@@katyb2793from what I understand, triangles are used to make what I’ve also seen referred to as a skinner blend. (Pretty much an ombré or gradient blend)
