    Hi Donna, I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your tutorials. I used to watch you on Carols show and have all your books. :) It was so nice to see you sharing Yetta's technique. She was at the Philadelphia Guild one meeting where I was teaching on something and she showed me her secret in a whispered voice. Great Lady!

    Huh! That is more simple (?) Than I've seen. And huh - you used scissors to cut the clay! I've thought about trying it once or twice but shied away. I've seen many demos/videos by Polymer Clay Artists but never have I seen anyone use scissors on Clay before! And the Venting - I have not been poking enough holes!! Sp I'm hoping to try much if not all of this tomorrow 😬 thank you so much!

    Hi Donna, I love your videos. They are so calming. Can you please explain how you cure something. I am very new to polymer clay crafts. Thank you!

  • @DonnaKatoArt

    @DonnaKatoArt

    10 ай бұрын

    Hi Danielle! Okay, curing. First of all, you can cure in your home oven. In the past, you couldn't but with the reformulation of clays, you can. Each clay cures at its recommended temperature and time. Some people pre heat. I just shove my clay in a cold oven (I know my oven reaches temp in about 7 minutes) so I add time to that. At its simplest, you'll be curing something once - you follow the package instructions. Know that you can cure multiple times. As you work, you will discover how your oven works and what to expect. Have ceramic tiles to cure flat things on and when you can work on them and cure on them so you don't ruin something moving it around. If you're curing something round or rounded, place it in a bed of baking soda to support it. Those are the basics, my friend. You'll be frustrated by it as we all are so just accept that you will be! Cheers, D

  • @Lyn4817

    I've noticed that many on YT don't appear to vent their pieces when required or they forget to show it, which isn't very helpful for those using a video as a tutorial. I wonder how many have become frustrated and lost to the the craft over this extremely simple step. One video I asked if she had vented her piece or not. She hadn't as she forgot too but it appeared to turn out fine. In hind sight I wonder if she'd had a flop and had to keep retrying to do the piece. Or it may have been a case that she didn't realise that she'd actually didn't seal the piece properly.
