Note
The purpose of my channel is to enjoy watching cars that, in real life, couldn't possibly have competed together. There is no need to point out the obvious: they don't obey the same regulations, nor are they designed for the same purpose. Nevertheless, I try as much as possible to keep the comparison realistic within the imaginary borders that I define.

Imagine your car breaking something or you made a tiny mistake at the Masta Kink and you drive straight into the basement of the house there? Then imagine you survive crashing through the windows/walls to the basement, but the car is now inside a basement, upside down and fuel is pouring down over you with hot exhausts and a very hot engine right next to said fuel? This literally happened to Jackie Stewart in 1966 in F1 practice or the race, and he was hurt but not burnt as the fire didnt happen, but the ambulance still took > 1hr to get him safe.

Ha ha, actually I couldn't resist to test it, but the time is a bit deceiving, only 2-3 seconds faster. Top speed is never greater than 350 km/h, since (at least in RSS's mod) modern F1 gears are not tunable. It is true that without tow, modern F1s do not go over approx 350 km/h anyway.

Realistically, for the chosen circuit, the 2016 LMP1 car had the same horsepower than the 2023 except on slow corner exits or during overtakes which is where the extra 350 HP electrical motors powering the front wheels would help. If they were able to use the electrical motors all the time, it's likely that they'd beat even modern F1 cars around modern Spa - roughly 40% extra downforce with 4x4 traction at the cost of 10, maybe 20 kph at the top end. Still wouldn't beat them on 1966 Spa due to top speed, tho. Regardless of that small note, this is a great comparison. The track looks terrifying as well.

Need to mention that 787B Mazda won their title not by the speed, but by superior reliability. So at this old SPA 787B could have superior advantage at full time race against F1 as well.

@@fabulouscarcharts5467You should have used the 2016 Mercedes (Fastest top speed F1 car in history) and used DRS on the longest straight, it would have reached around 378kph. Also you should have done the comparison on F1's best era which was 2004, so Ferrari F2004 375kph flat out everywhere, fastest accelerating F1 car ever and nearly thr best cornering, would have beaten the 2023 Redbull and annihilated the fastest 2004 Le Mans car anywhere in the world, either the Pescarolo Judd or Audi R8.
@fabulouscarcharts5467

The purpose of the serie is not to find eras (like 2004) when F1 would destroy LM cars, as this is the most common case in racing history, but rather to find years when LM cars would be close to F1. It is very clear for everyone that the 2000s F1 are way faster than any 2000s Le Mans car ever on a race track.

Because it is iconic, beautiful, and isnt actually much slower than other group C cars considering its nice grip (it helps taking corners flat out on this circuit) and braking performances, thanks to the weight advantage (approx 150kg) it had on its opponents.

Depends a lot on the car, but as long as you take some margin with braking points (which I did) you don't crash a lot, there is no tight turn nor tricky, low speed reaccelerations. I think about 30 or 40 crashes for the whole video is a good approximation :)
