American country singer Merle Haggard left behind a legacy that forever changed country music. Merle Haggard was a devout Christian, stating “It’s almost embarrassing to know that the Lord cares that much for me, but I’m going to shout it to the world.” Much like his late friend Johnny Cash, Haggard was no saint.

What a combination, Merle Haggard and Janie Fricke. They complimented each other like no other two singers I have ever heard.
@gailcaldwell1512 Жыл бұрын
As a kid, I can remember listening to this on the radio when it first came out and I was so moved, almost to tears. And of course part of that was because of the way “The Hag” could almost transport you into a song for those 2-3 minutes in that absolutely masterful way. BUT ADDITIONALLY, The ONE AND ONLY Miss Janie Frickie, was(and still is) also an ABSOLUTE MASTER in the way she could add to songs, and to this day I don’t think she EVER got enough credit (outside the Nashville community) for how she helped so many songs SORE TO #1, because of the sound she helped create. And this song is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES!

To get thrown into San Quentin for non-violent convictions and prior escapes, and then to come out of prison and redeem himself to become an accomplished writer, singer, instrumentalist, and performer. Not in a million. I grew up on Haggard and a small part of me died with the day he parted this mortal plan. It’s odd how someone whom you’ve never met can have a direct affect on a persons life. Merles songs resonated with my soul
What a great words in that song,if there is someone who fills lonely ,sad unwanted,broken,come to Jesus,and at his feet you will fall apart
May Almighty God bless you Merle. Thank you for all the joy you gave me. May you rest in peace. From Ireland 🇮🇪
I have. been listening to Merle for 60years now and he is now teaching the Angels how to sing. As far as I'm concerned there is no one better. I miss him.

anyone who has been encountered a loss, including a wife or loved one that have passed away suddenly. a song that makes me cry, i love your songs Merle with all my heart. one of the best music artists of all time.R.I.P Merle
What a combination, Merle Haggard and Janie Fricke. They complimented each other like no other two singers I have ever heard.

These older country singers could really sing some touching and beautiful sentiments about love. Sometimes when men are younger it is rough to see if they have a heart at the time, but sure enough they do. We need more country singers with these old-time feelings. It really pulls it out of you.
