Filled with the pulses of numerous ticking watch hands, this short documentary from the UK filmmaker Marie-Cécile Embleton profiles a London-based Iranian watchmaker as he muses on the delicate and temporal nature of his work. As Faramarz meticulously polishes wood, shapes metal and positions springs, his personal philosophy emerges - one that values the minutiae of moment-to-moment experiences, and finds craft in all things. Beautifully shot and carefully constructed in a manner that mirrors the work of its subject, The Watchmaker was a film festival favourite in 2017, appearing at the SXSW Film Festival and HotDocs, among others.

l've never seen a watchmaker that didn't _LOVE_ the craft! They are a special bunch!
That were some intense stunningly, yet calm 9 minutes. Great work!
He would make a great teacher, very peaceful, humble ,..and patient ..a beautiful man.
This was absolutely brilliant. I feel so calm and so serene now. Thank you.
An inspired filmmaker, an inspiring short documentary. Thank you.
He and his works are absolutely beautiful. Bless him.
I feel like I've gained 10 culture points
Terribly beautiful, terribly sad, and terribly true.
"Everything is craft...". That is so true, but only when the mind and soul are wholeheartedly in it.
What a solid honest man. The reference to watches are like humans, full of energy and ticking like a clock relation to the human heart. As a watchmaker's and a pair micro machinists living in a rural California desert town, I can see me and best friend Patrick being just like this man in about 20 more years. I think we will be just as happy as he appears to be.
So many beautiful scenes and light works.
Becoming obsessed with the life of a watchmaker and wondering if I should become one.
How does one get access to his watches?
really really nice video about an incredible man
He must be the few that can really see how fast time goes by.
Amazing Work, Congratulations a piece of art
Thank you!
BEAUTIFUL
Looked for his watches online... Faramarz, etc. Couldn't find any. That seems odd. Anybody find them?? Maybe he doesn't sell them.
timeless. I couldn't resist making that pun.

I'd like to send you a watch design and have you make it.. Ugh, I can't find anyone to make the watch for my husband!!
What you spend your time on.
I wish I could be a horologist, but my hands just aren't steady enough.
Ha! ....Its all you have. (Something that you have not earned but need to spend wisely)

J Paulson It isn't pretentious. This guy has found a meaning and a way to chill out, and you might not agree with it, but this is his version of happiness. It is the complete opposite of pretense - it is honesty.

Agreed. He doesn't seem pretentious at all. A 10 minute video where he says like 3 things is pretentious, and I love it. Claro?
