A review of the Synopsis of the Book of Eli
Here we have recounted the story of a mystery. Viewers do not know the contents of the book, but a would be assailant apparently knew as did the defender/protector of the book.
The defender was on a journey “west”, encountering a number of situations, either to simply take his life, or, later the book.
With a couple of ironic twists, the movie comes to an end. The book protector loses control of the book to his assailant, almost at the peril of his life, but still continues his journey. The protector of the book can fulfill his destiny, minus the book, because he has memorized it, word for word, which he repeats for it to be prepared for a printing press.
The assailant who took the book from him becomes infuriated beyond measure when he discovers the book is in braille and the one person who might personally read/interpret for him had been the subject of his mistreatment for years and refused to do it.
This picture is a mystery worth seeing several times, always unveiling new truths.

Eli in this film may be meant to be short for Elijah. Which parallels Scripture nicely because he is very much an Old Testament prophet type figure, who appears to 'pass his spirit' on to Mila Kunis' character at the end, to carry on the work in the same way Elijah's passed to Elisha.

too be fair tho in the NT, John the Baptist is Elijah. Mal 3: 1 - “I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the Lord Almighty."
1. There were so many hints alluding to Eli's disability. 2. I'm not sure but some say if the entire Bible was translated into braille, it wouldn't fit in one book. Then I wondered if that could be the premise of a sequel. After a detour, Solar returns home to find her mother lied to Carnegie and used the one part of the Bible she had to take control of the town. Now there's a race to find the other parts Eli hid along his journey, only clue being the reverse of the direction he travelled.
He guided by faith 🙏 the hand of God. That's how he stays alive on one cannot put there hands on the Bible,Because his power will go away.
Thank you on the insight about the character Solara. How you thought she would go back, after she had taken up Eli's sword, to go back and deal with the man that had mistreated her and her mother for so long. I had never even thought of that being where she would go back to.

If you look when he gets into the fight at the overpass. The height of the overpass, 14 : 6 is referencing Revelation 14:6 (King James Version): "And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people."
His memorizing the whole Bible is actually what muslims do with the Quran.
