@Ram-C Well, HBO has the TV rights to the story, so you'd have to work with them if you wanted to make a tv show and they already have 1 show in development. I guess you could buy the movie rights from George (not sure if HBO owns that as well or not), but I doubt he would just let anyone with money make movies about his universe, especially after the clustefuck that was the last couple seasons of GoT (especially season 8).

I also think the Starks and Royces being related via multiple intermarriagess played a part in the Other's particular interest in Waymar. I do think either the Starks are part Other, or the Others are part Stark (or both), so it makes sense they are seeking Stark blood for their new king.

I can't help but wonder if Benjen Stark was put to the same Shadowy "test" as Waymar Royce. There are many similarities between the two, even in their look's. The "Other's" do seem to be "looking" for specific traits, traits that both Benjen, and Waymar (even Jon) share(d)..both Men also being "high born" Nobles, from prominent Old House's, both are trained warriors, possessing their own (castle forged steel) swords, both Benjen & Waymar are Rangers, I believe both Men also spoke their Nights Watch, vows in front of the Heart tree .. and, didn't Benjen have a fancy cloak too... hmm. I wonder, Anyway, I'm only 5 minutes into the video, yet My mind is ticking (off topic) already..lol

Benjen did have a fancy cloak but he gave it to Tyrion. Maybe he had a spare. I like your thinking, we don't know what happened to him but he's certainly a good enough placeholder Night King for now until someone better comes along. Benjen is almost everything they could possibly want and is their version of Stannis. "Is this the one?" "I think so." "Probably not." "Maybe." "Sure seems like it to me."

One thing that stands out to me is the emphasis on how easy it is to cut through Weymar's armor. Who do we know with one eye (kind of), a black Sable cloak, and near indestructible black armor. Either it's Euron or Euron has learned extra parts of the prophecy that he is trying his hardest to replicate. My bet is kind of on the second one. Euron is trying to fake it til he makes it while Jon is the real deal

Nice video! Re what was the signal to the Others that this wasn't the guy they're looking for, while I like your theory fine, it might also be that his _armour_ failed. "The pale sword bit through the ringmail beneath his arm" . We know Euron has a valyrian armour set, and John dreams of being armoured in black ice, so maybe they expect not just a decent sword, but the rest of the kit too.

*COLD FURY* “Revenge is a dish best served cold.” I think that The Others, or The Great Other, were the ones who were wronged, or were created to avenge a wrong done to The Children of The Forest. G.R.R.M. Is playing with the concepts of simplicity & duality. Perhaps Humanity did something wrong/evil (breaking an Oath, blood-sacrifice to gain power, etc.) & they dress in Black symbolizing that they are in fact the bad guys, but we the readers are inherently inclined to side with them & sympathize with their goals because they are human like ourselves. The Others on the other hand, are White or translucent, pure, elegant, spirit-like, machines of vengeance apparently, yet they do not simply attack all humans that are North of The Wall. They clearly show restraint & know who they are supposed to target.

They were formed during the Long Night, yes, but their Order wasn't isolated to the North. They were scattered throughout Westeros, only coming north when the Wall was built. Hence the line: I am the watcher on the walls. Plural. As in, they stood atop multiple walls throughout the land. Not just THE Wall.

The combat with Royce may have been an initiation test for the single Other who fought him. The other Others were waiting for the single Other to past their test before they joined the fight. Perhaps it was both: the test of a new Other initiate is to test a human for some quality and call "clear" when the human is not a threat. Maybe its even become like the glass candle test in Old Town; the Others dont expect the human to ever be a threat and the initiation now teaches how frail humans are.

Luci, Luci, Luci... Admittedly I've missed a few videos but somehow it doesn't surprise me that you've gone full Heretic.😱🤣🤣🤣 It actually makes perfect sense even if it would feel like a tragedy as so far we have no reason to sympathize with The Others or even understand them in the least. Everybody loves Jon after all but his destiny does lie in the North and no where else. I seriously doubt he'll ever go south of the Neck. Everytime I listen to you I feel like I'm in English class again...🤣🤣🤣 There's just so much information as you've analyzed this so well that I know no matter how many times I read the books I'll never see the depths you do. It's rather impressive and daunting!

I'm loving this series, LML. As I said on Twitter, Euron's totally going to succeed in summoning something, be it from the sea or the icy north. His whole story arc will be a bust if he doesn't. But I do see the comparison in Jon as well, now that you mention it. Now if we could just get the book when winter finally comes, and maybe it'll answer some of this, lol (9 years and 1 month as of August 12)

My little theory is Euron summons a Kraken with the horn he stole from House Cetigar, but Aeron will Ride it and be Bonded to the Kraken because he will actually be in the water when Euron blows the Horn and he will have enough faith in the Drowned God to actually swim towards a Giant Kraken.

Here's a random thought: The Great Other and R'hllor aren't enemies. They're on the same team, their human champions are as well: Danaerys, Jon, Stannis, Melissandre. Dragons made to bring down the wall this time. The Targaryens changed teams 400 years ago. Jon is (at least one of) the prince that was promised. He becomes Night's King - the top agent for the Great Other. So will Danaerys. That's all I got.

You're right about one thing. The Great Other and R'hllor are not enemies; because they are one in the same. This is why Jaqen laughs at the idea of different Gods, and he calls it the "many faced God". GRRM is very smart, and he is probably either aware, (or also believes himself) that in real life, many people "know" that God, Allah, Brama, RA, Horus, Zeus, etc... All these Gods and lesser deities are the same "being" which wears many faces and goes by many names. It gets a bit deeper too, because that being is also you. It can't easily be proven, but it is known.

It is interesting. What if the Others we are used to are in fact being parallel with King Guard because they are Queen Guard and like a different caste or class and the Night Queen is a true other , like a banana is clones of an specific thing they all look the same but they ain’t meant to be clones. Night Queen is a true other , maybe even the last and so needs a very specific criteria for a night. We also could ignore that and just say that maybe a very specific criteria needed to be met physically which is why you have them looking or progressions of characters

Dany is a thirteen-year-old girl surrounded by enemies who want to kill her. She is going to make some mistakes, most likely involving her dragons. Still, she'll learn from each of her mistakes, and after conquering the Seven Kingdoms, she isn't going to go around liberating the people of the world through fire (death).

Benjen Stark went missing after Royce failed his test. I assume that didn't happen for no reason. George told his editor that Cold Hands wasn't Benjen, since I heard that I thought Coldhands was the Original Night's King who came under the power of the Greenseers after his defeat. I think the Benjen was taken to be a Night's King offscreen in similar fahion as Waymar not Jon or Euron. I think Benjen joined the Night's Watch out of Guilt for his role in Lyanna leaving with Rhaegar and thus blamed himself for her death and his father's and Brother's deaths as well. I'm not sure if Benjen knows about R+L=J. Guilt pushed him to into the NW and I think he grew to regret and resent that decision. He told Jon not to join the NW and told Jon he didn't know what he would be giving up. I think he will be eager for what the Others are offering especially if its from a beautiful female one. I like theory that Bloodraven reached out to Euron and that he is Bloodraven's greatest failure because he wants to make himself a God King when the Others comes when BR wanted him to try and stop them.

Alright here goes nothing, copy pasting it from one of the previous videos, considering you're gonna focus on Jon for the next video, maybe it'll give you some ideas. I had asked this on the last stream but I had arrived too late so I'll leave this here as it's somewhat related. I know that it's no news that George pulls in a lot of inspiration from Nordic myth but I find that not many people actually dive deep into it, and seeing as how you have a knack for mythology, I'd say this is right in your wheelhouse. So, what do you think of the parallels between Jon or Stannis and the fire giant Surtr from the Norse mythology? He is the "Black one", guards the realm Muspell (land of fire, the opposite of lands of always winter), carries a burning sword, during Ragnarök fights against and kills the god Freyr (anglicized as Frey, heh), sort of breaks the Bifröst Bridge (a direct parallel to the Wall), and then lights the whole fucking planet on fire. That's not all, after he opens the way the frost giants Jötunn and "all the warriors from Hel" (basically Nordic Hades, ruled by the goddess Hel) will invade, being led by none other than Loki the Deceiver himself. There are multiple parallels between Hel and Melisandre, and between Loki and Bloodraven, though I'm sure you can find much more than that. Freyr is an interesting figure as well, outside of the similarities to House Frey with his name, he is a figure of bountiful harvest, virility, has a lot of phallic symbolism. Not that far off from old Walder with his extremely virile offspring making processes. But Freyr is also very similar to Garth Greenhand, drawing a parallel with Stannis (Surtr/Grey King) killing Renly (Freyr/Garth). There is also that one event which I will directly quote from Wikipedia: "The most extensive surviving Freyr myth relates Freyr's falling in love with the female jötunn Gerðr. Eventually, she becomes his wife but first Freyr has to give away his sword which fights on its own "if wise be he who wields it." Although deprived of this weapon, Freyr defeats the jötunn Beli with an antler. However, lacking his sword, Freyr will be killed by the fire jötunn Surtr during the events of Ragnarök." I mean, you could make an entire hour's worth of video with that quote alone, it even has antler symbolism! I'm not even getting into the other parallels between Nordic and ASoIaF figures like Tyr and Jaime or Fenrir and Bran (tying Jaime's hand getting cut off directly to him pushing Bran out of the tower with that same hand is actually so fucking cool in that context), buuuuut if you were to talk about those as well, I wouldn't be the one to say no.

Yeah I saw this comment last time, I thought I liked and hearted it but maybe not. There is a video of Joe The Magician called "Brandon Starks secret Bastards" that theorizes about different persons in GoT might be a bastard descendant of Brandon. For me Weymar was the #1 contender for that title and this would fit very good into this theory and that of Joe! That does not only make him a descendant of an ancient First-Men-house but of a Stark of Winterfell! Could be that the others can "track" those with Stark-blood

  • @DavidLightbringer

Hmm, that’s an interesting question... I don’t think the Other was testing him; seems like it came for the baby and was trying to kill Sam because he was in the way. But if we are talking symbolic archetype... we can look at that scene again, certainly. Sam has his tears freeze in his eyes and his bladder freeze also, so there is an implied ice transformation happening. He is also wearing “greaves” made of snow on the march south from the first. So perhaps he is implied as passing and gaining the power of ice. He’s not very NK like tho, he’s more a last hero, especially stealing Cratsers son.

Lucifer means Lightbringer thanks for the reply! I love when GRRM dips the same character into multiple symbolic archetypal colors. The fact that Sam takes on ice powers while his entire character is more last hero, to me that shows these legends come from the same origin. Anyways, thanks again, and I love your idea that the Others are playing (essentially) “are you my daddy”
