I was almost in tears watching this. I’ve never been so understood / known. Even the Bible verses mentioned have always been my comfort/grounding verses. I’m a woman and it was so helpful too to see that this was coming from a man. A lot of my idiosyncrasies have been pegged to being a woman so this was good to see. Thank you guys!

I grew up thinking (and experiencing) the world is a dangerous place and I'm not safe, and I don't see anyone here for me; so I hide and pretend so that I can survive and exist. And all the while I'm hungry for love and life. I'm learning to see and understand that about myself, but still default to "worshipping safety" too often instead of leaning back on and resting securely in Jesus. Thank you for posting this video. Seems like Enneagram 6 gets overlooked or short shifted in other people's discussions of the Enneagram types. I can definitely relate to most of what you shared.

Type 8 watching this to understand my type 6 spouse. Thank you for the insight. I'm great when there's a fire, and can be the support she needs in those times, but she is the one who removes the fire hazards. The biggest struggle we have is communicating, so understanding how exhausting 6ing is helps me to empathize.

The House of Commons is the perfect analogy for me as well! And the anxiety comes for me when that “overseer” of affairs doesn’t chime in and provide order. I am constantly seeking out people that will restore order and perspective… help me see the “forest for the trees” and calm that chatter so I can focus! Fortunately I have family that are 5w7 and 2w9 and of course, God! I really have turned to the Bible lately to help me when I’m feeling uncertain and insecure, and I feel a lot more in control ❤️🙏

So spot oN!! Add triggering of traumatic events to allll of that processing of worst case scenarios and I'm off to the races! Reading John 17:15 and hearing that Jesus actually prays for my protection has helped me aLoT lately.

I'm a pastor and very much a type six. I still remember the first time I heard about the "inner committee" and it was like a slap in the face because I could easily imagine the scene in my mind. For me its usually a round table of my most trusted friends and mentors and leaders. They are all there talking about the problems from their perspectives. I say usually because sometimes it can feel like I'm standing trial before my committee, waiting for them to make the decision for me so that way I don't have to make the decision myself. Roundtable=Hypotheticals, Trial=Actual need to make a decision with authority.

The courageous aspect of the 6 helped understand that what fear is - that shadow side of courage. Thank you! One thing i might add is that just as your Jesus helps you, so do my divine guides! So amazing to share in this divine love blessed be to you both and with the arch angels protection ❤

I'm a male 6, also in ministry full time, and I 100% agree that this parliament/house of commons idea is perfect. You hit the nail on the head even giving voice to exactly how I often feel. I end up uncertain which can certainly lock me up. Very helpful analogy.

As a type 6, I relate to this. I tried to distance myself from Jesus but at the end of the day, I feel hollow and empty without relying on Him. His words give me hope and courage to keep going in life even I have the consistent setbacks in life and have the fear of the unknown or of the future.

I echo the previous comment. oh jeff i live in england and even we dont understand the parliment thing! :))) its so helpful to think of the inner committee not inner critic. and yeah ..it moved me so deeply too and i literally sat up to attention when you said isaih 41... the very first scripture card i bought from a lovely church shop back in 2001 was isaiah 41.10 so when you said it it was as if God was saying to me you see, i have been there with you all along .. and the yes its not stability its safety the feeling of feeling safe thats so vital to me (and im a 5 (but on your test because of the last few questions im a 4 ) but i am soo the 5 with a super deep feeling heart now and beth what you mentioned was soo imoortant, because i never even thought the 6 had anything to do with me .. and yet it has been gently wreeking havoc in the background underneath it all all my life and im 49 now. now i finally get it and have the words .. everybody thinks its stability but stabiity can just be the same old same old and did not provide for me that deep comfort assuarance and guidance and therefore * safety and secuirty that deep inside me my soul longs for. wow wow wow i am loving these talks and have been tuning in every mnday afternoon eagerly to find out more about myself and other people and all the connecting paths and wings . i had heard of the enneagram 10 years ago from robert holden but i just wasnt in the place to look into it. i stayed with some lovely franscican sisters back in march (i was led there for somewhere to stay!) and one of the books in their library was the enneagram and it was a christ centered enneagram so just amazingly perfect fit! god bless you all and all that you are doing for free as an act of love and service because its much needed right now the world the way it is (financially and otherwise). *thank you i feel truly blessed and priveledged to have been led to your enneagram test ..how about that go Holy Spirit! much love and gratitude Lisa in England x i would love to train as a coach one day with you, when money is flowing much better! you are awesome!

My inner committee feels like that moment in LOTR The Fellowship of the Ring, when the council of Elrond are all arguing over first steps, and Frodo is quietly watching it all unfold until he finally stands up and takes responsibility

Yes I agree with the parliament analogy. I’m a 6 with an 8 wing or vice versa not sure yet. I think the outside source we are looking for to stand up and have all this make sense is a worldly leader that says ok we are putting an end to all this nonsense and the ones responsible will be exposed and punished and things will soon look more like what we are used to. The only leader capable of this is Christ and we must put all our faith and hope in Him, but this is hard to wrap our predict and prevent tendencies around. My verse I lean on is psalm 34 v 4 I sought the Lord and he heard me and delivered me from all my fears. We long for Christs second coming to be here already and all things are new in him thus allowing us to breath that sigh of relief that the chaos is over and we can finally rest.

The endearing, witty and playful traits that show in type 6's might be the 6w7. Not sure if you know Myers-Briggs, but those traits are Perceiving traits of Myers-Briggs. IS_P Myers-Briggs types can be 6w7, as IS types may be Type 6 on the Enneagram and IS_P's top Myers-Briggs functions are Fi and Se. Se users can have 7 in the Enneagram as that function's strongly correlated to 7.

I used to lean 7 heavily as a child I was kind of like a comedian as a way to maintain connections with people but as I got older that part got less accepted in certain places causing me to lean more heavy to my five. I noticed I’m not as happy as I was when I was younger but I prefer the five wing because I feel like it helps me better with stability if I would have just stayed a seven I feel like I would have been more thrill seeking and less apt to take on the world at least financially and mentally now I have the perfect balance I just need to learn how to lean on my 7 better

How can we figure out this "blend" if you will in us? I have often gone back and fort with the: "I am 3w2" and "3w4". I used to think I was 2w3 and then other times I was told I waws a 4w3. I'm not sure if this is normal or not? Thanks!

I'm a 6 with Borderline Personality Disorder. There are a lot similarities, but in my experience, BPD intensifies the 6. in a really emotionally unstable way. I'm not codependent, but if I don't check myself I'll be overly dependent on others.
