Such an informative explanation of the type 5. It helped me to really grasp my type and affirmed how I react to situations. The more I learn the more I am able to remain in my beloved child state. I am a children’s pastor and I see how I use both wings and connecting paths. There are times (especially when volunteers are low or slacking) that I become overwhelmed and my wounded child begins to lead. I have a hard time depending on others because people can be very incompetent or just not reliable. I had a little breakdown this past week and messaged my mentor (pastor’s wife) and just let her know what I was dealing with. Later that night I laid it all out before God and asked for help. He gave me the idea how to move forward and I sent out an “SOS” text to my few core volunteers letting them know our situation. The response has been amazing. So many are stepping up and helping out. I have learned to reach out for help and to not be afraid to let others know that I can’t do it on my own.

"If I ask for what I need, people might be overly helpful & intrude on my boundaries." Wow, this helps to make sense of why I have an internal struggle to ask for help. I get overwhelmed & want help, but then I fear that the person I ask for help will just steamroll in & do it their way, and I'll STILL feel overwhelmed.

My bedroom was my sanctuary too, so when I'd be sent to my room without dinner as punishment, I was in heaven. My dad was an art director at World Book and we got a new set of World Book and Childcraft and Science Year every year. Needless to say, I was in heaven. As a 7-8 year old, I hitchhiked into town to the library while mom was taking care of my brothers. She didn't know until a neighbor picked me up one time and later told her. When I started in office work, we were in offices. Dad was always trying to convince me to be a socialite and put the books down. The social connection was obviously his gold standard and he harped on that til his last week on this earth! If I had to guess he was a 2 with a 1 wing. For the past 15 -20 years we have been in cubicle stalls (my opinion). Work from Home has been amazing to me! Dogs that need walks several times a day save me from being a hermit.

Why are those books turned around on the shelf next to the rainbow DVD’s? (Distracting!/Disturbing! What book bindings do not “match” the whole “presentation”? Apologies if that feels too confrontational! Yet…invitational…? )

As an INTP with a 5w4 I can assure you a lot of times I really wish I had been handled different cards but then again I don't know if I'd enjoy not being awarded the ability to "think different"

I believe I am a 5, but I don't get it. "Your needs are not a problem?" Of course they aren't. My needs are my responsibility not anybody else's. People who are always expecting others to "meet their needs" are too co-dependent, and that doesn't usually work out well, does it?

Is this a religious channel or a enneagram channel? Is the enneagram christian base? Why doesn’t the professional enneagram websites from some universities talk to people about God and religion being the correct way to spiritual and mental health for all people? Is this a way to evangelize people that come to seek enneagram information? If you can answer this questions for me I would appreciate it greatly. Thank you

The Enneagram is not a spiritually based tool, but we do use it through a Christian worldview. We are not trying to evangelize to people, but rather to share how we use the Enneagram in our life and faith. We are welcoming of all worldviews, religions and ways of life. We, in no way, want to diminish anyone else’s viewpoint.

Why are you using this evil . Stop for what does light have to do with darkness. You who say you are christian, should inform yourselves on what and where this stuff comes from.
