I LOVED THIS MOVIE! And...I did NOT sleep through half of the movie. I dozed off once or twice for a few minutes. The music was great! I agree that Herod's song was really catchy and fun to sing and listen to. The GREAT reversal was at the end when Herod's song was taken back and glory given to the newborn King. Great Job Holy Rebels! I LOVED watching your video too.

Love this movie. Love these two Holy Rebels (2 of my favorite Hudnalls). My favorite songs to sing: Can We Make This Work, Mother to a Savior and King, and The Ultimate Deception. Second tier favorite songs: We Become We, Good to Be King, In My Blood… buuuut like you said…. They’re all actually good. 🙌🏼🎶

@kimalzamora, I love "Mother To A Savior And King", "The Ultimate Deception", "In My Blood", "The Nativity Song", and "Brand New Life". I also like Glee and Darren Criss and Bluey and Paw Patrol and Milo Manheim.

Ok so when I saw the trailer to this movie I thought it looked like major cheese whiz and was opposed to seeing it but I like to support Christian movies so I decided to try to see it with an open mind. I actually really loved it. The music and acting was fantastic. I love Antonio Banderes. There were quite a few clever and funny lines. The trailer seriously did not do the movie justice. We immediately went home and downloaded the soundtrack. The casting was great and so were the sets.

The production value was way better than expected

The movie is not biblically accurate but it tried its best to be. They have taken ALOT of creative liberties. But then again even the story in the Bible had its own deviations with time. And oh my God, I love the songs! The nativity song, with all its ethereal beauty, had me in tears. I can't stop listening to the soundtrack. Everything about the songs (except for that goofy song sung by the three wise men) was brilliant! I personally love song "Ultimate deception" which depicts Josephs doubt and mental agony really well. I also like how Joseph is young and in love with Mary. Everyones complaining how he was a big flirt at first but I like to think it was because he was immediately drawn to Mary. I mean Mary and Joseph are quite literally a match made in heaven. Most catholics believe Joseph was way older than Mary and was more of a guardian and protector than her husband. This belief was originated to explain how Mother Mary was a virgin all her life as she was not romantically involved with Joseph. I personally find it disturbing that a full grown adult man marrying a teenage girl was more acceptable than a married woman losing her virginity to an age appropriate husband she loves. So yes I enjoyed Josephs and Mary's dynamic in the film. It's a bit awkward at the begining but it progresses well towards the end. Overall, the movie was decent. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either; it's somewhere in the middle. However the movie concluded on a very joyful and hopeful note, capturing the bright hope inherent in the story of Jesus Christ's birth. Also get this; This movie is a love story. Love story between a man and a woman, people and God, mother and child, a king and his crown. It's a family movie at its core. If you want a very light hearted rendition of the nativity, then watch this.

I actually really liked this movie, despite my track record of not usually enjoying musicals... Nice Review!

Great to hear!

This movie was a lot of fun! The beginning was kind of clunky with the dialogue but by the middle the drama of the characters was just as interesting as the songs!

Hi, Luke! Hiya, Faith! My name is Victoria and I absolutely loved this review! I saw the movie two times and cried! Not once did I doze off in the theater. I was awake and drank in every moment. I would definitely recommend The Star, another AFFIRM Films movie, as well as Heaven Is For Real and Miracles From Heaven, as well as the upcoming 2024 movie, Unsung Hero.

It's funny that you seemed surprised at a Bible based musical, when Godspell, Joseph and the Amazing Techincolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, and The Prince of Egypt are some of the best known musicals of all time.

@oklaclarinet We were specifically talking about live action Christian musicals. We both absolutely loved Prince of Egypt. Even more specifically we were talking about recent musicals and Jesus Christ Superstar was before either of us were born but I totally understand what your saying 😂

@@holyrebel If Jesus Christ Superstar was before your time, Godspell and Joseph would be as well. (They were also a decade before I was born.) However, that trio is live-action, first as a stage show and then as a movie (or two). As someone who absolutely loves Joseph and has a soft spot for Godspell from being in a production back in March, I would say Journey to Bethlehem is tonally very similar to those two shows..
