Completely agreed! Why should I hug random people or guys who are just hugging for the sake of physical pleasure? That is mentally uncomfortable. I Believe in Hugging only those who care for you and are concerned about you.

"Why should I hug random people or guys who are just hugging for the sake of physical pleasure?'' You shouldn't. But there are other dimensions of hugging. To me hugging is a sign of universal acceptance, love, harmony, and grace. It doesn't have to be extended to just anyone, but it fitting in certain kinds of spiritual or creative groups. This brand of hugging has nothing to do with sex. To me, hugging is like a foretaste of what's to come, symbolic of Heaven and Infinity. Besides that, speaking as a long-time social dancer, some of the best dancing is called Close Embrace, which is similar to hugging and is a beautiful way of dancing, along with more open positions. The two dancers needn't be lovers. Close Embrace is simply a closeness with another human being in which the closeness, or hugging as it were, isn't sexual. The world is largely unaware of the dance world. If one is in charge of one's self like Sadhguru is, then one simply handles it in a mature manner. Done. Simple. Beautiful. Not harmful, but wholesome and uplifting.

@anoushka gokhale I don't want to agree that we hug for physical pleasure. But it Is complicated, not simply cuz I am Indian. When I hug someone I know I'm not going to get any sexual satisfaction from it, but the mere thought of hugging a girl, getting close to boobs (if I were to be blunt) works an intense chaos or series of explosions in a dude's brain. It also isn't a culture thing I must say, cuz, even my American friends have very little need to go out of their way to hug another guy friend. But with a girl, they jump on the chance without even a second's thought. The strange thing is that when you hug someone you can't feel the boobs or anything... cuz it's just fat, so it holds no ummm mass? I dunno... never needed to put this in words till now. We can't feel anything to be accused of doing it for physical pleasure. Unfortunately. But the sheer thought of getting close to a gorgeous girl and holding them, is enough to cause a preemptive strike on our funny male brains. But eventually when we are in the act (haha) we realize that it is pleasant and warm and comforting and completing for us. Just like it feels for women. And why I think hugs essentially are so uplifting especially in this chaotic world. Sadhguru makes a killer point here though. But yeah, I think it's complicated. So I avoid it as much as possible. Only when I'm leaving someone or meeting someone after say 5 to 6 months is when I hug either sex. A funny note also, is that, when you refuse a hug women sense it and they desperately neeeeed to hug you somehow because of it hahaha. Unbelievable. So I give up and let it happen (o poor me!).

@@cimmerianfable I'd hug a random person :) if I felt like they needed one. Of course I'm human and so my brain kicks in to cleanliness mode and starts firing me with demands to check if I could get any disease or dirt from them (yikes! I did day I am human haha). But when the heart says go, it's a split second decision and they get attacked with the hug haha. Genuinely not for me; evidence? A lot of times it's for guys! And I'm 110% not gay.

Guys who hug for physical (sexual?) pleasure must be so starved of it one can hardly imagine it. Or in love. I can tell you that most guys do not derive any sexual pleasure out of a hug. In my part of the world we think nothing of it - I hug my closest guy friends as well if I haven’t seen them in a while. When I hug a female friend it’s the same. One shouldn’t hug strangers though. That would indeed be weird and pushy. That’s what a polite hand shake is for - or just a nod of the head - I agree. Sometimes I just think some woman think guys more sex crazed and weird than we actually are.

One time I was at a money seminar and everybody was walking around giving each other encouraging high fives, when this monk walks up to me and gives me the warmest embrace. I lightly hugged him back with the pat on the back thinking it would soon be over but he kept holding me, I nearly broke down and cried. He then released me and did the same thing to another person. I wasn’t a very touchy-feely person before this. I vow to be a great hugging healer one day. 🙏🏾🌹

My dear friend a Yogi saves his/her energy. A person who meditates should also keep this thing in mind because energy from a meditator is absorbed by others around him/her. It completely drains them if there are people who have weaker aura around them or who eats meat or have negative mindset. A Yogi suffers if he is around people for too long that's why they normally keeps distance.

Yes! definitely you can feel “negative energy” same as you can feel positive energy! Learn to stay grounded and get a sense of the negative from a distance. If your energy is positive, centered & strong, your energy will not be swayed into negative. If you do feel it, shake it off with your inner positive (amplify) Somebody with some negative energy does not necessarily mean they are bad or of ill intent but their vibration is low and possibly in need of some positive! WE ALL go thru various positive & negative energy thru life simply because we are made up of energy. The key is to always try to keep within a higher vibration as much as possible via a healthy mind & body which all comes from good nutrition, sleep, exercise, relationships, meditation. The human touch when given in a respectful way can be healing for both the giver & receiver! Do not fear a hug. I also agree with the sentiment below made by Brayden Jack 👍🏼 but that is just both our opinions and we know what opinions are like 😉😅 may peace be within us all 🙏🏼🙏🏼 ☮️

Hug is an expression of love and affection, in India is it common to hug family and friends. In fact, it can uplift you and make you feel good. It is obvious that you not hugging random people, it is only known and close circle people fall under that category. In fact there is a Saintly lady in India who hugs people to heal them. People from far and wide go to her just for a hug, so nothing wrong with giving or getting a hug, positive vibes from one body get transferred to another.

Yes but dont forget that most humans are not capable or prepared to be useful in that manner, if you watch better most of the people around the globe are very toxic in their own ways and are not doing a great work with their basics of life. In this video its offered a knowledge which is useful and are going to do a good impact in most of the people, but it doesnt means that u cannot use in a powerful and good manner as you said, all depends on you, your capacities and clarity about what are you doing. And of course we cannot forget that when you are more of a public person the vast majority of your teaching are going to be basics in the sense of the circunstances in which you are involving yourself, in this case, this world which i think that i dont have to say how the people are living here because its very clear dont you think...?

You sound like a kind and compassionate person. I think it's strange that a kind and caring gesture towards others is tantamount to a failure to thrive. I think people who were not embraced enough by their mothers can have a greater understanding of the importance of a simple hug. It doesn't mean you're needy or flawed as this man suggests. It's just him using a narrative to fit his culture ,his way of life ...his opinion. Of all the things in life we can choose to make ourselves better people, to stop hugging one another isn't one of them. We should stop all the shooting, cursing, hating, hurting, ostracizing, ignoring, killing, marginalizing, bullying, torturing, murdering, abandoning, lying, raping, abusing, humiliating, and all the other evil things people do to one another....but hugging? Hugging doesn't belong on this list.

some huggin is medicine .. and just like air it's needed it's oxgen for some and we sure can use it live it and breath it. Not everythin you read or hear sometimes is bad for you. if someone is in need of a hug i will not struggle against positivity . sometimes givin someone a hug is part of the cycle of givin and recieving .. sometime a hug will nurish someone with light that's a good thing.

In India hugging is not general. Yes we do hug our own family members or people known to us, but not randomly anyone or just met people. People here talking about giving pleasure/happiness/support by hugging and a change of mood by hormone release, but personally if I am sad/suffering, I would like to have a person beside me who can listen to me, encourages me, give mental support so that I can overcome the situation not just only a temporary change of mood by hormone release. No outsider (including family members) can change my sufferings unless I myself willing to change it. And this covid period must have teached the world not to get into physical contact randomly by hugging or shaking hands as it spread diseases.

Beautiful revelation, Sadhguru. I feel like hugs and embraces work just fine if both parties carry positive vibes, or even either one is highly positive. It definitely helps the one with less positive vibes. Hugging has its own miraculous healing in some circumstances. Practising it moderately and only when needed, would be wise =)

That reminds me my childhood with grandparents in village ancestral home where many people come and go in busy agrarian social life, but never would any member of the family or visitors touch each other while greeting each other, but a humble namasthe 🙏. There was no reasoning taught to us, nor did we seek to understand, but followed it as custom.... pandemic teach humanity customs are rolled out from generations out larger science than modern. It took a long way to understand it, after modern education, plum job, money, possessions towards senior citizens🤔.

I have had people that I don't know or barely know touch me, sit near me, ask for hugs, all in an effort to steal my pure energy. The more sensitive and more aware you become, the more you will know the truth of this. Thank you, Sadhguru for speaking up on this subject. Even Jesus asked who touched him and he said he felt the power flow out (the story of the woman with the issue of blood.) Luke 8:46 And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.

On the flip side, a hug has great value and meaning. It can instill hope, love, comfort and so much more. Study after study shows the importance of human touch and how serious mental and emotional disorders stem from lack of touch. And if it is love we are choosing to share with another then exactly how is this harmful to anyone? Twice in my life while hugging two different people, our hearts began beating in unison and we were aware and surprised by this so to me, a hug has more power than we realize, it can bring people together in a way other forms of touch can't. A hug is a loving warm non-sexual gesture which I believe should be encouraged with willing participants. There is a big dif between the loving touch of a hug and what transpired with Jesus. The woman who touched Him reached out with FAITH and because of her faith she was rewarded and healed. Jesus noticed her touch because her faith triggered His healing power and He felt this. Trying to compare a hug with this experience is completely erroneous and loved by the video poster...no great surprise as one who walks without the true light of this world likes to drag as many as possible into the hugless, lonely pits....just like the governments...stay six feet apart...don't touch, don't breathe in each other's presence....and now...don't even hug....what next...don't talk to each other as it may disrupt the sanctity of your perfected thoughts? That's actually not a far cry from the ridiculousness of not hugging each other, the one human physical act that perfectly shows human kindness, compassion and love.

It’s called proxemics, every culture has it and it varies but to connect one culture’s proxemics and traditions to changing your DNA is a bit of a far stretch. Many indigenous cultures in the pacific and the Americas exchange salt, touch and breath. What about the healing power of massage, physicians, nurses, occupational and physical therapists all through touch. I respect Hindu tradition of not touching and do not think that other cultures having different proxemics is to be judged negatively.

Please include in your studies, Epigenetic understanding. Some folks can feel someone who is angry, enter a room without even seeing them. Someone who is upset, who touches you, can make you feel weird..you are feeling that other person’s energy. And vice versa. And, what are feelings, if not chemical cascades of processes inside the body? And, what happens when from some chemistries; don’t some of them have impact on our DNA expression? And, when there is enough of reactions, enough impact, changing the way certain genes express, isn’t that a genetic impact? It’s known, proven fact, that an emotionally traumatic event of sufficient severity, can change the abused person’s brain structure, too..not just their minds & emotions…because…In order to change the anatomical structure, the issues must also affect how involved genes express. What we consume, daily, affects our epigenetics…”consume” includes everything, everybody, we encounter, all the moments we live. Any of it can potentially change how our genes express.

@Sai Keerthana Krishna Kumar I too am surprised that you comment with such certainty on a topic you know nothing about as a valid argument. You know nothing about me, my heritage, my upbringing yet are able to comment on it from your place of perceived spiritual mightiness. I understand by your comment that you are offended by me not agreeing with Sadhguru, who ironically lives in the west, however I am just mentioning that other ancient cultures such as Polynesian or most indigenous Americans & African rely on touch for healing and kinship, without putting some imaginary status on any culture. Some spiritual advise, I think your ego is getting in the way of your reading comprehension. Aloha 🤙🏽

Jerry *finally* feels vindicated. (One of my favorite "Seinfeld" episodes.) 😅🥰😇 *WORSE is the kiss* that people erroneously presume comes with greeting. I am such an ancient soul with such a youthful spirit inside such a young body. I view integrity as *wholeness,* _integrating_ all parts of Self. I am so grateful and thankful to my family, most especially my mother, for giving me *many* hugs, and much physical contact. A healthy balance, so that I do not crave it, and so that I do appreciate and am discerning with my energy. I don’t even hug trees when I’m sad or down. I know they’re healing, but I’m always cautious not to pass any negative energy unto them.🙏🏽💚 Wonderful upload; thanks.
