A few things to be cautious about when using an ultrasonic cleaner. Make sure to never put your hand in when it's running, what it does to water, it also does to blood and bone marrow. Don't run things like gasoline or acetone in one unless you have an appropriate extractor, the fumes will melt things. Make sure the solvent you use won't attack your material, aluminum is really vulnerable to a lot of solutions, I've accidently dissolved things in my cleaners. With things like carbs, they often have a coating in the bowl that keeps ethanol from attacking the metal, an ultrasonic cleaner will almost always compromise it and increases the chance of aluminum corrosion.

Thanks for the tips. I have seen videos where people say the waves feel hot, and I'm thinking.... "yeah, that's probably not good". As for the fumes, I had considered that, and also the flammable / explosive issues... I did it anyway, but tried to keep it somewhat contained and didn't use the heater. (when using gas) Yeah, the CLR attacks aluminum, as does LA's Super awesome cleaning solution, Pinesol (especially when hot) and Spray 9 to some extent. I purposely put some aluminum parts in a few solutions to see how bad the erosion would be. In the video you can clearly see the black oxide on my cylinder domes. Not ideal but it didn't leave any pitting.

I can't stop myself from laughing because of the "mouth guard " 😂😂😂😂

Haha... yes... Pine Sol and an ultrasonic cleaner. You will want to make sure you check the inside dimensions of the tank so that you get one that is large enough. 10L is definitely not enough for many parts.

I was wondering the exact same thing, and that's why I did the test... I really had no idea if it would work.

I used my ultrasonic cleaner in my unheated garage and it kept up the temp just fine. It was the middle of summer and sitting in direct sunlight, so that may have had something to do with it! It wasn't from Vevor either, but I have acquired a few Vevor products including the non-experimental diesel heater which won't burn any waste oil, alcohol or gasoline! Thanks for your demo, and take your carbs apart to clean them, regardless of your lazy success, and I'm not going to call you an idiot. I'll reserve that for your more regular critics! Pinesol! Who knew?

Haha, Thanks for the comment ! A non experimental heater is the best kind to have.... Unless you run a KZread channel. Yes.... I left the carburetor together for this one demonstration, to see if it would clean inside. This past summer I probably cleaned ... between 160 and 200 carbs and all of them were disassembled.👍 Pinsol... works great... smells ok when diluted ... pretty freekin intense in pure form !!

Pinesol used to be literally pine distillates (like turpentine). These days, it's organic solvents in water, and a little bit of sodium carbonate, which makes it somewhat basic--that will make it etch aluminum parts slightly, which probably contributes to the paint-stripping action on aluminum parts.

@@iamgrowler For sire... if you are doing any sort of coating afterwards, etching is a good way to prep the surface.

I have had the same heater you have for years now and it has been great. I have always used dish soap and it's pretty gentle but I didn't know pine sol would work so well. I have a chainsaw I just tore down and I'm getting it powder coated so thank you for the tip. That should hopefully remove all the old grease and maybe loosen up the existing powder coating.

Oh and I have used muriatic acid in mine. Removes rust super fast, but don't breathe those fumes if you try it.

Pinesol is pretty harsh, but I don't know if it will do anything for powder coating... that stuff is durable. You may want to test pinesol on something that you don't care about first, as it does eat some stuff, like zinc coatings.

Yeah... I know all about muriatic acid.... It is intense stuff... We used to use it to eat aluminum off of cast iron cylinder liners when repairing engines. Those fumes are something else.

Right on ! They are great. They are great for cleaning so many things. I'm still figuring out what cleaners work best and what cleaners not to use on what things, but it has been great. I think the thing that I like the most is cleaning up bolts, washers and nuts... Normally I get the bench rinder with the wire wheel and clean off every individual bolt, then hit them with brake and parts cleaner, then compressed air. WIth this, I toss them all into a jar with some Spray 9 or gasoline, and 30 minutes later they are all done. If they are rusty, a little CLR takes all the rust off.

Pine-Sol has been my go-to cleaner for brass, bronze, zinc, copper, stainless steel and aluminum for years.

@@loweredexpectations4927 Yes with an ultrasonic cleaner. I used it to clean and rehab plumbing parts and fixtures I was rebuilding. Aside from cleaning and shining up parts it also worked well loosening up and removing decades old o-rings, gaskets and stem packing. The only complaint I ever had was that it could be difficult to rinse off if you didn't have very hot water.

Great cleaners, but be careful putting parts inside the cleaner without the basket. The oscillation of parts can wear the pan out. The basket has rubber feet to protect from direct metal to metal contact. I beefed up the feet on mine with fuel pipe.

Thanks for the tip / advice👍 I had considered that and saw some marks left from washers sitting on the bottom. I was very rushed making this video and was trying to clean as many parts as fast as possible, haha. I had actually recorded a clip talking about the rubber feet falling off... and somehow it didn't make it to the video. I lost 2 of my feet so I'm using chunks of fuel line.

@@loweredexpectations4927 It still would take a very long time to rub the stainless steel through. What usually happens before, is, that the ultrasonic elements vibrate themselve loose and fall off. So, if i do need the extra space without basket, i'm not afraid using it. There is one other thing, that usually has to be considered - not everywhere the dirt comes off, there often seem to be dead areas, the parts need to be dislocated between passes to get evenly cleaned.

@@werner.x That's interesting. I've heard that the elements are placed on the bottom ? I had assumed that they would be on the sides, but I guess the bottom makes sense. What you say about the dead spots makes sense. I'm hoping that when I'm KZread famous and sponsors are drooling over sending me stuff, I can get a larger one, haha.

@@loweredexpectations4927 Yes, they are on the bottom. I hope, the have it bolted on welded studs these days, but i suspect, they still may be just glued on with epoxy, which has a limited lifespan. You can glue it back on.

Hey Joel, I just tore into my two NH80's Honda Aero 80's, and one needs a top end, snagged a ring, and took it for a ride. Bottom end feels okay, but I know there's possibly some ring down there. Anyway, I'm very serious likely going to buy one just to clean the clutches, there's two, one on front, and one in the back, and they are black with gunk. I'm going to order the 15L one. What do you think this would do to a clutch pad, or drum brake pad? What about gasket material stuck to a surface? I'm so excited to try it!! Great video man! Love how you fixed that inverter!

The clutches will come out nice and clean... I would probably put them in gasoline or varsol. I'm still playing with finding the best cleaning solutions. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that gas is not safe for a few reasons... explosive fumes and inhaling those fumes. Definitely don't use the heater if using solvents. Spray 9 and pinesol did a great job at cleaning off gasket material for me... it won't remove silicone / sealant, but it does soften it up enough so you can easily rub it off with scotchbrite. Pinesol is a little harsh and will 100% eat coatings like zinc and may tarnish bare aluminum, but not pit or destroy it... 15L is a good size. I'm running into the issue of what to do with all of my different solutions now, haha. I currently have CLR, Spray 9, Pinesol, LA's Super Awesome cleaner, 104LL avgas... I think that's it, haha. I have tried a few others like MEC chain greaser, Sunlight dish detergent, water, laundry detergent, and just disposed of them. I wanted to take the float bowl off so bad. I was like... "IF this didn't work, I'm going to have to take it all back apart again, so why not just pop it off and take a look inside to make sure", haha. Too bad you can just drop the whole machine in and not take the carb off.

I got the 30 liter one a while back. I often just use dawn dish soap in it. Works pretty well. Haven't tried anything else because it worked well and was cheap and have plenty of it already. Lol.

Right on ! I tried Sunlight dish detergent and it didn't do very well. I also tried some Mountain Equipment Coop stuff that also didn't work well. The Pinesol works great but the smell and taste are intense. (likely not at all healthy) I found Spray 9 to be the best all around cleaner. I guess it depends on what you are cleaning.

I recently purchased the 30 ltr as will. Mine seems to heat up even with the heater function turned off. After the cleaner being turned on for 1/2 hr the actual temperature reading said 44c. Vevor said this is normal. Any chance you could verify this for me. Thank you

@OceanBreeze2022. it's normal. Ultrasonic horns / speakers create heat. If I remember correctly the ultrasonic horns use something like 600 watts. Much of that heat is transferred to the water tank since they are attached to the tank.

I get it... I'm not overly fond of the idea ... but perhaps you're overlooking the fact that 1. There aren't any practical options outside of "supporting China" Even things that are "Made in America" or Canada, have many of the components actually produced in China or the materials come form China. 2. "China" does a lot to build the North American economy. If I get any Canadian, European or American companies offering me their products for free or paying me to sell their products, I'm on board, if they are decent products ... but I can't see that happening. The Chinese are doing the same thing that Japanese did in the 70s 80s and 90s... getting much much better and making good stuff for a decent price.Just like the Japanese, people don't / won't have much of a choice but to purchase their products because they will dominate the market. I would suggest, that if you want people to purchase products made wherever you live, start making products where you live, and sell them.

We elect people who do nothing to promote or protect domestic manufacturing while rewarding those exporting from China, fail to put in place any meaningful consumer protection and welcome, literally, boatloads of low quality imports. China doesn't sell us anything. We buy it. I've worked in sales, and there's a big difference.

Thanks for your comment. I appreciate it. Editing is always a struggle... music and audio is always one of the larger struggles. In many cases KZreadrs will use music to try to "set the mood" or tell you how you are supposed to feel about what you are watching... but it is also to help with transitioning from clip to clip without the audio having harsh changes. Unless you are in a studio, or have really high end audio equipment, and spend a lot of time editing audio, background noise changes constantly. In real life or with a constant unedited clip, the noise generally isn't in your face / obvious. However, if you chip clips up and there's a car passing, air plane, dog barking or ultrasonic cleaner running ... then it becomes really harsh. Music is a good way to smoothen transitions and also allow for footage to be sped up without annoying sped up audio.

I have one that works great! TBS the bad (weak) parts are the power cord and socket. it will corrode and stop working.... I just bypassed it and solder it direct. been working great ever since. took about 6 uses for it to stop the first time... i cleaned the socket and cord but a couple uses later it stopped. so if they didn't update it you will probably have that issue down the road. it's a simple fix and the only issue I have had.

The power output of the ultrasonic transducer has a huge impact on the final surface. Powerful ultrasonic cleaner can strip the paint even with just plain water.

I've seen a few industrial units that can do this. I've never used them, but a friend of mine worked at a shop with one. It was close to $20,000. They used some sort of enzyme solution that would eat grease and other stuff so they didn't have to change the solution as often.... from what I recall. I'd love to have something like that. Apparently they use a different type of transducer. Bars instead of pucks🤷‍♂️

@@TrinomCZ I did wonder how much the condition of the paint played into it. I suspected that if there was a "perfect bond" the cavitation would happen on the surface of the paint where if it were slightly compromised, it would happen between the paint and metal.

What happens to the other vevor code? If I remember it right, there were 2 vevor codes last time....1 code was 10$ and the other was 5% store wide!?

They just told me to use this one, this time... I have no idea. I'm fairly certain, if you use the other codes... they will work on this as well, but I don't know. The other codes were VVS10 ($10 off) and VVPROMO for (5% for store wide ) I may be wrong, but I feel like there is a slight language barrier, so I try not to say/ ask any more than necessary.

I prefer using Simple Green HD (The purple stuff) The simple green (green stuff oxidizes aluminum) Doesn't eat the paint. Homedepot has it and lasts forever. Don't recommend putting in Orings or plastics with the heavier ultrasonic as they will dissolve those parts or break them down.

@@loweredexpectations4927 No problem. I came for the review of the Vevor cause my ultrasonic is falling apart. FYI Simply Green also makes a Aircraft degreaser. Simple green just dilutes. As for Aluminum Oxidizing cleaners it can cause the parts to change dimensions and cause you other problems.

Purple Power is another common cleaner that I have seen used in ultrasonic cleaners, do you have plans to test the same type of dirt/build up with different solutions? I am interested to see what is the most effective in cleaning while not degrading the item.

@@loweredexpectations4927 simple green/mean green, etc. is the best overall in terms of price, cleaning, surface finish, & disposal purple power, while it cleans well, tends to tarnish things in ultrasonic cleaners, especially cast aluminum (and will etch chrome and copper parts)

The extra strength Dawn is the only way to go... They came out with a cool dispenser that you actually set it cap size down. and it does not leakl. The pump things always leak.. As for the Dawn you only want to use a very small amount... like one short squirt for 3 liters....it actually defeats the ultrasonic if there is too much as somehow it does not allow the bubbles to form? In any case use very little I pretty much use the stuff for everything but having the leak proof one at the sink allows me to wash my hands easily@@loweredexpectations4927

Yes... all much cheaper than actual cleaning products. Gasoline works well and leaves no residue, but it's the least safe of all of these, haha.

I don't think Pine-Sol is a paint stripper; I think the ultrasonics breaks the bond between the paint and the metal just like it does to the crud that's stuck to the parts being cleaned. I've got one of those ultrasonics in my shopping cart.

Thanks for the comment. This may be partially correct but the paint was not nearly as compromised when other cleaning solutions were used. It appears that something in the Pinesol has a softening effect.

That's a good question and I think I may have talked about it at some point. For a few reasons.... but the main reason being that camera microphones / microphones in general do not like ultrasonic cleaner sounds. The ultrasonic waves vibrate the mic much like they vibrate the parts. Your ear, however, does not hear what the mic hears. The sound of the cleaner itself is a little annoying, but something that I block out if I'm working in my garage. However, the sound you hear in a video, and the sound it makes in real life are not at all the same. In a video, especially up close, is absolutely obnoxious, while just mildly annoying in person.

Try some trisodium phosphate it's cheap and if it doesn't work ya can make some bread and muffins with it 😊

It seems that I'm late to the party and most people have one, haha. I debated whether or not to use music and actually had uploaded it once and then re edited it with the music levels way lower. The "problem" with no music is that in a bunch of the clips, I have the cleaner running in the background. While the noise isn't too bad, it makes the cuts in editing very .... abrupt / vulgar. If I hadn't already deleted all of the footage, I would reupload it as a separate video ... Sadly I can't

Sorry to hear that. Two months for a refund is unacceptable. Was it form Vevor directly, or another seller ? Amazon, Ebay etc ? I have had good luck with mine and I have had lots of positive stories... I generally have luck like you... When I bought my vacuum pump from Vevor, off amazon, it took me 4 tries before I got one that worked.

First they offered to send the replacement parts to fix it but as its 230v it required an electrician to fit at a cost of AU$160 but the parts never showed up. Then they offered 50% refund and i could keep the broken item. I demanded a FULL refund and they could come collect the failed unit. Eventually i got it but i had to work hard for it. The unit was never picked up and went into the bin

@@VEOPengineering Yeah, that's 100% bulshit and 0% apropriate customer service. I would expect that sort of thing from an Ebay seller, but not from an actual companie. I would never purchase again from a company that did this to me, so I hope whoever was managing / running the operation and decided that was okay, is no longer working for VEVOR. I always say that the true colors of a company shine through when things go wrong. How they react to a problem says a lot, and it your case, this was a total fail. This doesn't sound like company policy, and instead someone, or a group of people, deciding to act independently.

Haha.... I have gotten a lot of use out of most of this crap.... Better than lots of princess auto or harbor freight stuff.

Please...enough with the music; I want to hear you, and what you're talking about. I'm 5 minutes in and already looking for another review. on this unit Not trying to be nasty, just giving you a perspective.

Thanks for your input. I do appreciate it... I have had other people mention the music. I had considered not using any music at all, and now I wish I hadn't... The reason for using the musing is an attempt to achieve continuity. There was lots if background noise, including me using the cleaner in the background at times. When editing, any cuts / transitions become really abrupt and obvious without a constant background sound ... Hence the music. I tried to set the music levels really low, but apparently I missed the mark. Unfortunately I can't change this now, but I will do better in the future.

@@kobolila Thanks ! I ended up using software to strip the audio of music and re editing, but it's only at 720P and sounds odd as a result... so I added it as an unlisted video in the description.

@@loweredexpectations4927 Just watched, much better. There was still, interestingly, some music but it wasn't as distracting. Look forward to your future projects.

@@kobolila I'm glad you thought it was ok. The reason for some music, is that the software that I used produced what they call "studio sound" where it removes all background noise. While that may seem good it's really strange and also had the side effect of making it sound like it was partly in a tin can and had a strange sizzle to my voice. To reduce that effect I set it to remove 95% of the background noise, and then adding 6% of the original audio back in.
