I've ditched the idea of a cover and just keep my two a6 books + pen together with a rubber band! Mine's from a bundle of asparagus and there's something artsy/collage-y about it that I really like.

A thought about the cover. You could take it in to a cobbler and ask them about slicing the cover and sewing in a thin piece of leather (or vegan leather if they do that) to make it wider. Could ruin the cover or could make it exactly what you need. Also, so happy that this system is such a good fit for you

Maybe a 5 year cover would work better for you if you want only one cover. There is the lovely green wool one, that I am been wanting for years, but cannot afford it. Oh you prefer black. Sorry about the suggestion. I love Hobonichi, but right now I am thinking of rehoming two of my weeks. Because I may get overwhelmed trying to use 3 weeks. But I love compartmentalized journals that are already dated. I got over being perfectionistic about using every single week or day in my planner. The only good thing about CBT for this autist, was learning that I was not perfect. Else it was causing me more anxiety than it was worth, especially the forced mediation part of it, listen to the birds outside. I did not buy the day free this year, because the flip artwork is gone, and the annoying quote is still there. They made that mistake, and got a lot of slack for it. I am tired of their quotes taking up real estate in my page, especially the A6. The A5 I can ignore it, because of the page size. I am not suggesting the following for you. I just felt it was time to move on from being pure Hobonichi fan girl for my common place books. So, I have trying new notebooks, well previewing and rehoming the failures to my family. I am going to try the Take A Note A6 for a capture method for tasks and ideas. I also purchased the B6 for common place. The B6 does have the annoying weeklies, but it is not so structured in my book as the vertical weeks in the A5 Cousin or Sterling Ink among many others. It does have 78 blank pages at the end of it, and that with a companion book will be great I think. Just as long as I can see the freaking grid. I do like to write straight lines of text without the freaking eye strain. However, finding the right companion book is a pain. I am looking for 68g Tomoe River Paper instead of 52 because of the ghosting. If this fails I will probably just go back to the Jibun Techo with the Idea book or a A5 companion book to go with it. I just do not want the dailies, and I like the idea of weekly planning with JT flags to move around as my plans change during the week, instead of writing in things and having to cross them out. I write it in after the fact.

I pretty spontaneously decided to order a Day-Free for my birthday month of December, so this flip-trough video felt so timely and inspiring. 📖 Also I know I commented this under another video already, but I'm still SO happy that you inspired me to get fake nails. They give me so much sensory joy/OCD relief - and without seeing another autistic person wear them successfully, I would have been too scared to ever get them. ❤

If the fabric cover doesnt stretch enough, Moterm has a6 covers that have a FAIR bit of extra room. I think a full techo and a notebook/avec one fits, so itll handle the chunk of two small ones. Might be an option in the future if you dont want sepereate covers.

I have a suggestion, well intentioned but possibly blasphemous, which is to slice a thin (2mm?) strip from the covers where they fit into the pockets so that the spines sit a little further forward. If that looks better leave it under a weight overnight.

Found your channel after Lindseyscribbles mentioned you. I’m also in the UK so it’s been nice watching someone from my side of the pond (or whatever the saying is). I have a suspected autistic son (7) so find your videos interesting in that respect but also your thought process as I do the same sort of back and forth commentary in my head about planning related things. I’ve also had a quiet house more often now while my children go with their father at weekends (something that never happened before) so it’s been an adjustment. Thank you for sharing things and glad your books are working for you; I’ve just found a system that works for me after planning for years! It’s a nice feeling isn’t it?

I have also been sticking in pictures of bags in my journals. Still struggling to find the ultimate ultimate bag.

Lovely video! I also got the gentle navy pinstripe cover on cover for my a6 setup & got properly annoyed by the almost-but-not-quite-perfect fit. So I fixed it. if (using the navy/pink grid paper board you & I both also got) ... slice one pink grid square's worth (only) of depth off the back cover of the notebook you want to display on the right-hand side of the wool cover... both a hobonichi techo a6 (on the left) and an a6 notebook (on the right) will fit perfectly, with no bowing. I've got one of the chunky flower illustration notebooks on the right of my setup. A original (spring edition a6 AND a weekly supplement on the right With no bowing now and everything sits completely flush. And the pen holder still works fine too. I'm over the mood now that I've hacked the bowing irritation away. Just thought you might like to know, if the bowing is still annoying you too. So yeah, just slice one pink grid square worth of millimetres off width/depth of the back paper/cardboard cover of whatever is being fitted into the right-hand side holding pocket. Be precise. No more than that or it won't sit in precisely the correct position with the a6 original, (within the gentle cover) to be satisfyingly flush with each other & you'll be good to go xox

I don’t know if you gonna see this but this year I bought an a6 inuyasha cover, a6 tomitaro flower cover, one piece book and day free book. Intention was using one piece planner with inuyasha and day free with tomitaro; both books fit inuyasha perfectly, and now my tomitaro is used with my stalogy and fits snuggly. My inuyasha cover also fits perfectly. I don’t tip in or use stickers/photos for my planners, despite that my spines bends even if I put only 1 book per cover. I guess it’s more about the thickness of cover going into the book? I don’t know this is just my theory

You talking about books that you read while younger, reminds me to try again to find that scholastic book that I loved as a 8 year old. The Watcher in the Woods, but it CANNOT find it for the life of me. I think it was honestly my first thriller book I read, and that is why I want to find it and add it to my library collection. I would love it. I have added all the other favorite childhood books to my collection already, and have loaned out the English books to my nieces who are just learning English in school. As for cancelled Netflix shows, I am still grieving Anne with an E. Though the young lady playing the part, was too young to continue on with the series at that age. However, I keep hoping they bring it back when the cast is a bit older. Have you read the case files of Sherlock Holmes based on H.P. Lovecraft world? I downloaded a sample. Not sure yet if I can handle that much Horror. I had to stop playing with the RPG group I was with, because I was not mentally prepared for my character that I lovingly built to go insane or die easily.

Stupid suggestion (potentially useless knowing you mentioned you want to have both books within the same cover): if they really end up growing out of the cover, maybe you can give a cover to eacj book and tie the two books together in a traveler's notebook style, while keeping the back cover of the first book tied to the front cover of the second one? That way you'd have the same setting you have now - but two covers.
