This song and lyrics are great!!! Also, yeah you may need to watch it once more or twice to understand the story. But, simply this is a man who has no one. No other soul in his life other than his pet cat. He loved his pet cat, she filled his void. Eventually, he got the sense his beloved pet didn't love him as much. Eventually, fear and paranoia got the better of him. That turned to anger. He killed his pet, after the accident he attempted suicide. Failing and falling, he passed out. Most likely the video is his delusional dream from his failed attempt. He woke in the morning, having to face what he's done. Obviously at this point, the strange red and black persona is to represent his cat. With all this in mind, hopefully everything becomes a lot clearer.

The man is Ai, while the cat is named Aru. The title also translates to "Ai and Aru's misunderstanding". The human form Aru takes throughout the video is a youkai, and Aru haunts him for what he did. He tries to make Ai remember what he did throughout the video, and once that happened (2:56) it resulted in youkai Aru's death. Ai suffers from multiple mental illnesses and addictions, as seen through the pills, smashed bottles and cigarettes. Aru seems to recognise one of his spirals/panic attacks as seen in 1:41. These are all details, and while they change a bit of the story, it's really about the perspective.

Honestly what I got fromthe animation was that this guy killed his cat and hung himself due to believing that his cat didn't love him back in the same way he loved he loved it. He obviously wasn't successful since at the end the knoose was still on his neck when he woke up but within his attempt of suicide he passes out and dreams of his cat as a demonic person and possibly relives the things they did and remembers the things his cat would do or say to make it seem like it loved him although he believed that the cat didn't. I do think the cat loved him back in their own way but was unable to convey that to him so the boy went insane from feeling like he was being toyed with and killed his cat but he realized after the fact that his cat actually loved him back. It's just a theory it could be completely wrong but I just gave it a shot.🤷

Actually, when I listen to this song, I think the story is similar but not the same. I think that the boy might have come home and found his cat dead, and then tried to commit suicide. I'm looking at the lyrics, as well as the video, and in the video, it seems as if the cat is doing all the singing. But I think that there were a few days between the boy finding his cat dead, and then trying to kill himself. I think over that time, he went insane, and thought many things, and then tried to kill himself, but failed. It looks like he fashioned a noose out of the window curtains in the back, as they're all ripped, and the noose is a white fabric like them. He must have passed out, but the curtains ripped and left him on the ground next to his cat. But when he enters this dream state, I think it's the cat saying that the boy never loved him, and just used his death as an excuse to kill himself.

These are fucking great explanations and I would also like to chime in and say, that it was possible he was abandoned by people. Some of those people were probably only using him, than pushed him aside. So I can assume he was lonely and got a cat to cope with his lonilness. Maybe in his dream he saw the cat as a tormentor (bc it looked sinister in some shots) which could possibly be why it has such a demonic kind of apperance.

Lovingthe sounds Great! Imma' piece out mine too base on you guys theory. How about the guy gave up on life for he is too miserable. He planned a suicide then his cat meowed at him. Thinking the cat would be left behind after, he then popped an immoral thought that led kitty onto death. Maybe thinking, they'll be together on the other side. Then he continue to end his life but it failed for the tie is weak and hit his head which made him asleep. There, he dreamt about his cat. Those lyrics are sung by the cat thinking she got tricked and all. In the end, he woke up. He didn't die.

I love comments like these on music videos, especially when the description doesn't have the lyrics written out (sure, it's linked, but I'm on mobile and I like to read the lyrics as I'm listening)

the way the lyrics for the chorus are so witty like you might not realize the double meaning behind "i knew you never loved me. i knew but mistakenly believed." until you reach the last chorus because obviously there's the meaning of 'i knew you never loved me, but i still believed that you did no matter how false that delusion was because i needed your love so badly.' but then Ai (and the audience) realize that the true delusion, the actual mistaken belief was believing that the Aru never loved Ai. "'i knew you never loved me,' i said and mistakenly believed" Ai was so convinced that Aru didn't love him, but he was wrong. we can even take it a step further and say Ai might've felt a sort of bitter smugness at being able to tell that Aru didn't love him: like he was always unloved and he can tell Aru's just another heartbreak. no exceptions. he _knows_ he's unlovable, so you can't trick him. he can only trick himself, and that's fine because at least that means he's in control. but he was wrong, and isn't that tragic? he couldn't see beyond the past pain and trauma. he couldn't see the love and its deep sincerity right in front of him. "i knew that you never loved me. i knew and mistakenly believed." now the meaning changed. 'i knew that you never loved me and i believed that, but i was mistaken. you did love me, but i was too blinded by my self-loathing to realize.' i know these are just translyrics and semantics and nuance and this and that, but these are really great translyrics and that's all i really wanted to say i just got carried away because i'm emotional and it's 4AM

I honesly love this alot, it's rare for english covers of vocaloids to be actually be good because often singers (especially female) try to push their voice to the point where it strains and sounds uncomfortable even for the viewer. With your voice, it sounds natural! You have a good range! I especially love how you sung when the song picked up at the last chorus, your voice was a PERFECT amount of high !!! And the scream at the very end omg it was amazing. My only criticism is how you suddenly changed pitch at 00:39, I feel like you could of had a smoother transition than that. But overall this was really good like shiiit
