I can't tell you how much you saved my ass on this one. I scratched the shit out of the brand new cooler at my job and when I tried to fix it I made it 100× worse and then I did this and it looks even better than when they bought it.

I had the same thing on my stainless steel fridge. It was coated and I ruined the coating accidentally. So, yes this method will work but you will have to polish the ENTIRE piece in order to re-finish it. You can't just do one little spot. Hope this helps!

This worked like magic right after finishing the process. But as soon as I cleaned the surface and removed the oil, the scratches came back. Now I have both scratches and smudge. In other words, this doesn’t remove the scratches, but it makes the appearance acceptable temporarily

It took me quite awhile to get it right. Initially, I had a similar experience to yours but kept at it and the scratches seemed to disappear but the surface was dulled slightly. I then used damp fine (0000) steel wool on my fridge and range backguard and am very happy with the results.

Same here, I guess you’re actually scratching it a little again with this method, and since it’s brushed finished it works, that’s why he says you MUST FOLLOW the grain direction. You will practically be scratching the thing “the right way”.

lol can't remember but somehow I got the scratches back out. just do some research. but I guess it's better to use some special cleaner or pad and avoid it to begin with. seem like I wiped in one direction so I guess I kinda polished the steel so the brushed look was in same direction not all up and down and sideways. turned out ok . they should send you a small piece of metal to practice on. lol
