This month, Dean Kevin J. Vaughn, Ph.D., highlights the Degree Completion Program, funded by the University of California Office of the President (UCOP), with the goal of helping ‘stop-outs’ who started at the University of California but never finished their degree. Dean Vaughn presented the promising results of the first year to the UC Board of Regents.
Another initiative is UCR University Extension’s Apprenticeship Program which was recognized as an Apprenticeship Ambassador by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeships. This program invests in the local workforce and connects students to employer partners.
During recent travels, Dean Vaughn connected with university partners and alumni in India, Mexico, Thailand, Japan, Spain, Vietnam, China, and Korea. Also on the international side, UCR University Extension’s Disney Program is back, and a new short-term Culture and Language Program has been launched that does not require an F1 visa. Lastly, an Intensive English+ Program has started and allows students to earn a certificate meanwhile they learn English.
