Starting law school in 2000 while working a corporate job, Lopez found his true passion in law. South Texas provided a welcoming academic environment and first-class amenities, where he made lifelong friends and felt genuinely heard.
Dean Treece, his favorite professor, left a lasting impression with his intellect and personal attention to students. Lopez discovered his love for constitutional and tax law, which led him to help the Spanish-speaking and immigrant communities navigate the legal system.
He gives back by working with South Texas to establish the Lopez Family Scholarship Endowment, supporting first-generation law students, future women attorneys, and minority students. South Texas is where he began his legal career and realized his dream.
