A Man Among Wolves

Shaun Ellis has joined a pack of wolves, living and behaving like them. Abandoned at birth, three wolf pups are raised by Shaun who then teaches them the ways of the wild. As they grow up, he feeds, sleeps and breaths the same air as his wolves and in return they give him a place in the pack. Seeing the world as a wolf, Shaun takes a step further and comes up with a plan to help wild wolves threatened in Poland.

It’s why you shouldn’t shampoo your hair every day, get a shower obviously but just get your hair wet, don’t shampoo it every day, just every 3/4 days

  • @razor5764

    @@aritina8379 Wow, that's quite offensive to me. Not all single children are spoiled brats. I'm a single child (eleven years of age) and I understand pack hierarchy very well. The mother and father wolf (also known as the matriarchs or alphas) are the leaders and parents of the wolf pack members. Once the alphas have their second litter (if they do), the first litter of pups will help raise those new pups. After the pups are 1-3 years old they usually leave the pack and become a dispersal wolf looking for a mate of their own. So please, get your facts straight before calling others out. And I understand completely wolves are NOT savage, edgy beasts. They are cautious and timid towards humans, avoiding most human contact. However, certain species of wolves don't fear humans due to never having human contact, so they don't know any reasons to fear us. I was quite offended reading your comment because of the lack of common sense and because of your rude statements. Yeah, some children are brats, but not every child is.

    A very well produced documentary on wolves...I have Shaun Ellis's book "WOLVES"...I was surprised to learn how very intelligent, how highly organized, and specialized wolves are...I will share with you a small portion of what the book taught me about what goes on in wolf society... The most misunderstood wolf, is the "omega" wolf...The role of the omega wolf is critically important for the survival of the wolf pack...The "omega" is the peace-maker, and practical manager of the wolf pack, in wolf society...The alpha wolves direct and rule the pack...The "beta" wolves are the larger size wolves, they enforce the rule of the alpha-wolves on the rest of the pack... The omega wolf has a calming influence on the pack, and keeps the pack from harming each other...

    There comes a time when too much is too much. 1. If your family doesn't approve of what you do, then that's their fault. They left him. 2. He's not French-kissing wolves. Any person with common sense should know that licking is not necessarily kissing to a wolf. 3. He did reach them. Although the howl of a wolf is always there the ability is awakened by other members of the pack. He awoke those instincts. He taught them the system of alpha and beta, he also made sure there were things they could do if they are ever released into the wild. 4. He is not attempting to domesticate them. 5. If you have negative things to say about a man who risks his life everyday to do what he loves well keep it to yourself.

    In the wild, pack hierarchies don't work like they do in the captive wolves. They're family units. The "alpha" is just the oldest wolf with the most knowledge. Shaun wouldn't be able to do this in a real wolfpack without befriending them over a couple generations like the guy who befriended bears in Alaska.

  • @julesmpc1314

    @julesmpc1314

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes, it depends on what the alpha is used for...we see most packs have "alpha couples" really, only them can breed... the actual "alpha" concept is somewhat overcome now...its sadly still used but not with the same strict concept as before. We see with human eyes trying to make sense of the world (though that old alpha concept does not apply to humans, 😂😂 its more of a wishfull excuse such as polygamy...debunked by evolutionary biology). Anyways, as time passes, the more we revise our scientific "certanties" the better, it means our knowledge and thinking is still evolving, when we get stuck with absolutes and idiologies were are doomed.

    His dedication to researching wolves is admirable, but I've noticed that he sometimes ignores the distinction between captive and natural packs. In nature, they are generally nuclear family units centred around a breeding pair, and there's no question about who the "alphas" are - mum and dad. The youngest pups eat first. Dominance is only relevant in captive packs, which often lack breeding pairs or are an assortment of unrelated individuals. The assumptions about dominance have since been discredited by a number of studies. Anyone interested to know more should look up the wolf biologist Lucyan David Mech

    When Shawn Ellis left his wolves for six weeks to work as a wolf advisor/expert to farmers who had wild wolves attacking their livestock, he returned to find that he had lost his leadership role among his wolves. Although he raised and taught them and the fact that Shawn Ellis lost his leadership role and became the lowest wolf, it shows me that carnivorous predators have little or no loyalty and respect for Ellis. The wolves had regularly challenged each other as well as Shawn Ellis for the leadership role. Defending that leadership role is another regular activity among the wolves and man. His final goal to live with them as a wolf in America, I think Ellis is too good to these wolves. To lose his family, house, over such predators and for the cause to stop their extinction makes me admire him much more. His family doesn't deserve Shawn Ellis in its life. His family leaving him 15 years ago was probably a good thing for Ellis.
