that's not how it works but whatever. In order to be elegible for death sentence, the jury needs to find the accused guilty without any reasonable doubt, and as you said many of those sentenced will then exchange the death penalty with life sentence. It's not "every 10 executed 1 is innocent", that is absurd, out of every american executed this century none have been innocent.

No acctually. I mean idk about America but here in Canada the point of putting prisoners in prison is "for their punishment, not to be punished". You can buy many many things like tvs, radios, drawing books etc. There's also health care, dental care and eye care. You can even get jobs in prison and continue to get your highschool education and college or university education. Also you get 3 meals a day and a roof over your head. TBH as long as your not a child molester or rapist or anything that would make other prisoners wanna kill you then you'd have it pretty good in there. It's basically a very long sleepover

@@chrisk.5964 Yeah, that's not true. While it is true that most (see 90+%) prisons have kitchens ran by inmates, not all do. Some places have actual kitchen staff who are government employees. This especially applies to juvenile facilities like detention centers (basically kid jail for short term stays and waiting for court) and training schools (kid version of prison, though they're nowhere near as bad as adult prisons). The food isn't great in those facilities, but it is an improvement over the slop served in adult facilities. There are also some rare adult facilities that have kitchen staff, like the prisons which house elderly and infirm inmates. I've been volunteering in adult and juvenile facilities for over a decade now and have seen a shit-load of them. So I do know what I'm talking about on this one.

Looking back at it, 6th grade was the most racist of them all. In the halls I would hear black and white people calling each other overcooked and undercooked potatoes. I just don’t understand how anyone can get that mindset

I hate that that’s still a thing, but it’s like good guys and bad guys. There are more normal and anti racial people then racist people. I just wish the police would be able to arrest them all, that would be amazing. I know that, at least where I live, the police are not “racist blood thirsty killers” like the media says they are. A lot of people just go off what the news says, or a certain time frame someone decides to show you. You have to do research if you actually want to know what happened, including using multiple sources and footage. Being said, there are definitely dirty cops that exist, but there are about like 5% of the population of cops.

There was an experiment done during a firing squad execution to a man who spent his last years doing as much good as he could to redeem himself. As they strapped him into the chair and pinned the target to his chest, they monitored his heart rate. His BPM skyrocketed to 160BPM, equivalent to the effects of the most strenuous exercise. He was terrified. I can imagine everyone’s heart rate skyrockets, knowing that their vision will fade from this world, and they’ll be plunged into darkness for good. Lethal Injection is tricky as well, because if the initial dose of sedatives don’t knock you out, you’ll be paralyzed, unable to move as fire is poured into your veins and you go into cardiac arrest, not able to scream, not able to breathe. Terrible

Watch 14 Days of May. It's a 1970's documentary available for free online. It follows inmates on death row all the way up to their executions and even shows the chambers being tested on animals. The main person it follows is Edward, an innocent black man who was gas chambered for 'killing a white woman'. It's heartbreaking and really drives home why the death penalty is not to be supported. Up to 75% of the people on death row are thought to likely be innocent.
