Hi Graham, I had a wireless system supplied and installed by Falcon. The screen slips over the cars internal rear view mirror. I use it’s like using the cars mirror and I hardly ever need to use the extending mirrors. One of the best investments made. Improves my piece of mind when towing. Cost £750. Cheers Colin

After a lot of research I brought the Haloview BT7 system, no wires as its battery powered so self installing plus it can be placed to assist with hook up and also to help with wheel spoke alignment to fit the Al-Ko wheel lock on my own, expensive but you get what you pay for, very high resolution and recording and I can transfer to my trailer and classic car easily.

Great bit of kit Graham. Would be nice if it connected to the existing car screen through the Android Auto or I phone system. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Hi Graham, I fitted my own camera from ebay at a cost of around £45, this works via wifi to your mobile phone. As being fairly new to towing I wanted as much information as possible as to what is behind me at all times. I tried a cheaper smaller wifi range one first but it wasn't good enough when actually out on the road, so buy one suitable for a lorry or long vehicle. Mine is a wifi camera Transmitter for iPhone & Android model 903S . I then just picked up a 12v from the 12v socket in the caravan battery box locker. luckily I have a rear window in my caravan so I can mount it inside. Well worth £45.

Great idea also love the hat cam.

Really interesting and a decent bit of kit. I'll be reviewing a Haloview one soon so it's interesting to see how both cameras do the same job differently. Mine also has Blind Side Detection which is very handy. 👍

A very helpful vlog, thanks. I have a similar system that is wired rather than wireless (long 8m caravan) and it is so useful when overtaking a HGV and pulling into left lane again. I place my screen on top of the internal car mirror though as it becomes redundant when towing anyhow.

Thanks for watching. I don't understand where / how you attach the screen? Is it a screen like mine?

I have the Trailervision 360 system fitted to my 2016 Vanmaster from new. It allowed Vanmaster to run the cables from back to front between the roof and ceiling material and keep it tucked well out of sight. It has a digital wireless connection to the screen in the car and hasn’t missed a beat. Once fitted, Neil Todd came to Wigan where I’d collected the caravan from Vanmaster and was testing at a local site. He configured the system to “stitch” the four corners where the images overlapped so I had surround view of the whole caravan. He then went home, leaving his jacket behind with his passport in the pocket. Unfortunately he was off on holiday the next day so he had to get a taxi to bring it back to him that day at a cost of about £300. 😳

Hi Graham, Looks a good piece of kit 👍. Not a fan of extra screens above the dashboard though. I have my caravan reverse camera connected to the cars inbuilt screen through the TV’s external AV input. The only problem with that is the picture goes out when moving forward above 5mph. It’s a safety feature so you don’t watch TV, DVD or external video input whilst driving 🫤. Would be good to see how you get on with yours. Cheers, Rob 😀

Thanks for watching Rob. I do agree, I’d prefer it all to be integrated with the car. Having said that I’d prefer it 4K too 😂 Someone mentioned about the possibility of it interfering with the air bags, which is something I’ll have to think about..

Looks like you hadn’t shut the door from the kitchen into the bathroom when you pulled off from 3:00 in the video. It appears to have shut itself around 3:40, as the reflection from the central bathroom mirror goes away. Great bit of kit. Is it something available to the public, or specific only to that installer? Is that install location a risk with the passenger airbag - wouldn’t want that getting blown off at high speed towards my passenger.

Thanks for watching. You're right the door was open, just after I cut away I pulled over and shut it. Yes, it's something they sell, not sure if it's specific to Camos-UK, there are other brands available. Good point about the air bag, I'll look into that.

I've had a couple of wireless reversing cameras on my caravan wired up as rear view mirror when driving but the image behind was so tiny with anything more than 3 metres behind were almost impossible to see anything behind me is this suitable as rear view rather than reversing only?

Haha yeah for the last journey I had it in the middle of the windscreen just to avoid that very reason. Plus if the airbag went off they’d have a 7 inch texture embedded in their face. It would be all my fault 🥴

and Channel Five would have had a bit more footage 😂

Any chance you could show some footage as recorded on the SD card, it was really difficult to see the quality on the moving hat cam 😁

I do plan to do that. TBH I got the settings wrong, and the image was flipped, so I didn't want to use it. Hopefully, in a few weeks, I'll have it done. I have to say, though, the image isn't as good as my 4k dashcam, but then it isn't 4k, so not a fair comparison.

Legally do you still need the extension mirrors on your car if using a rear camera that shows more of the space behind you?

Thanks for watching. I've not used it at night yet, so I can't tell you what it's like in the dark.

It would be better if these companies could integrate the camera feed into the car's standard dash screen. If it has an existing rear view camera of course. But in my humble opinion car tech is always lacking in modernity in the vain hope that people will upgrade their car to just upgrade the ICE. Stick on screens that plug in the cigarette lighter are a bit cumbersome, and lazy, I feel. I got rid of my Nextbase dashcam because it was forever falling off the windscreen and never actually recorded anything vital without a card format every week. Tech is only good if it actually works and doesn't cause me more problems when it's supposed to cause me less. It really bugs me that my 2016 Land Rover Discovery 4 will only play mp3 files, not higher quality WAV files, from a USB stick but i suppose if that is the only annoyance you have with a LR product...can't be all bad🙂
