A Leopard Cat drinks at Rocky Pool

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Over the last year or so my trail cameras have picked up leopard cats on several occasions around Huai Khayeng Nature Park, Thong Pha Phum, Kanchanaburi but this is the first time that one has come to one of our pools to drink. Wonderful!

Thank you Nicola. I was back at the same location with my son the last few days but we had heavy rain, so not much opportunity for filming. I'll try again next week.

Yes…. I was so thrilled to see this one here. This is a water pool that I created on my conservation land to provide water through the dry season. You are right. Felines just have a beauty and a grace all of their own.

Yes, indeed. This is the best of the two pools. Apart from two visits by the leopard cat I've had three different species of civet visit.... one of which comes every night now. Also, crested goshawk bathing each day... much to the annoyance of everything else I would imagine.

Thanks Hans... I actually did get several camera trap clips of leopard cats moving around in the daytime, but they were on a very cheap and low quality camera, but it gives me great hope that one day I'll be able to see one and film one with my Sony during the day.

@@thailandwild4897 The existence of these animals on your property means that the nature there must still be very intact. That is good news.

I'm heading over there tomorrow, Hans. I have about one more day to finish the hide at Rocky Pool, then hopefully I'll be able to sit there for 2-3 days. I see that Pittas are appearing already in many locations. I had a pair of blue-winged pittas nesting right next to this pool last year, so I'm hoping that will happen again.
