Disclaimer : We receive a ton of emails and messages from people telling us we filmed them at the ramp this past weekend and they want to know when the video will air. This is not a question we can typically answer. We film from three or more ramps every week and have a massive back log of content and sometime it could be weeks or months after an event occurs before we air the video. We put stuff out as fast as we can but we only air three videos a week and in a typical weekend get 6-10 episodes worth of content meaning we get content faster then we can air it. Thanks for watching and just be sure to keep watching looking for your content it will air but probably not immediately after it happens!

I fish and boat alone 90% of the time in a very busy coastal town. In these situations, I simply communicate and explain very briefly in an adult way...works 99% of the time. I've even pulled in front of folks already tied up, but haven't left to get their trailer yet because they're slow, new or unaware others exist. Last week, I pulled near a docked boat trying to get their act together and simply said, Hi, I will be so fast, back with my trailer and out of here, you'll think I'm a ghost...do you mind?...I promise I will not cost you one second of time. Ran to my truck and was backing down and they were just walking to their vehicle. Smiled and said, thank you! Have a great day. They waved and smiled. That is usually how it goes. Communication, sincere polite communication can really work, Boynton.

"Mom looks pretty good..." I'd certainly agree. The line at the ramp is defined by the trailers, not the boats. If there's no courtesy dock and you're solo, you have no choice but to tie off, otherwise you idle off the ramp while your driver gets the trailer.

Reading through these (and other boat channel) comments, it's obvious there are 2 diametrically opposed schools of thought as to how boat ramps are to be be utilized. 1. Tying to the dock gives the boat priority. 2. Drop off a driver and wait away from the dock until your trailer is in the water. In 35 years of boating, I've never seen the former in person, only in videos. I've launched at dozens of ramps in several states, and nearly everyone, except the occasional solo boater, does the latter. After watching many of these videos and comparing them to real world experience, tying to the dock, esp at busy ramps is incredibly slow, inefficient, blocks access for others. Hence the confusion and conflicts Dropping off a driver keeps the ramp clear and boats get in and out of the water much quicker. These videos provide ample evidence that when people tie to the dock, far too many will treat it as their own private property, take forever to get their trailer, cut in front of others waiting to launch, unload a mountain of gear on the dock, schlepp it to the car, socialize, prep, pack up, break out food and drink, and in general move at a slower pace. I've launched at ramps much busier than this one and shudder to think what might happen if anyone parked at the dock more than 30 seconds or so. In over 2000 launches, I've never seen conflict at ramps that use the second method, but it can be seen in many of the videos where method 1 is used.

Nobody drives my truck, EVER, so when my daughter was along, she would stay with the boat until I got the trailer. If someone backed in ahead, she would move back or take it around to an empty lane. I would put the trailer down an empty lane, and she or I would bring the boat around and load it up. If I am by myself, or no one to tend the boat one way or another, I am the tie and go guy. If I get my Fountain, no one will drive it unless there are no objects within 200 yards. If I f it up, that's ok because it's mine. If someone else does it, they won't pay for it and then I have to. Learned that with my 1st car. Saw a guy drive a 35 foot or so Formula up on a ramp real hard. Got the props up out of the water and chewing concrete.

Because tradition. Remember what left and right sides are called? Port side and starboard? Before boats was steered with a center rudder, they were steered with an oar to the right side of the boat, later developed to a rudder attached to the right side. Starboard = steer board. So that's why the boats controller is most often to the right. Do you want to hear how insanely traditional that thinking is? Thats why airplanes have a starboard side and that's why most airplanes still embark on the left side still called port side.

First attempt - Shoddy crew work messes up more dock landings. Case in point: Jumping off with no dock line while shoving the boat away. What a maroon! Crews - Run the bow line back to amidships, outside the bow pulpit. Run the stern line forward and step off with both lines in your hands. Give your skipper a break. Easy peasy. Second attempt - More stupidity from the crew that makes a marginally poor approach seem like a downright bad approach. Apparently the skipper is unfamiliar with sucking the stern to the dock with light reverse. And the "Karen"? - Not fair. Jet ski goes first. They are there, they own the dock. CC trailer guy needs to clear out. CC should have docked - jet ski chick isn't a mind reader. And finally - the Key West landing with no power? That's sure sign amateur - the opposite of landing "like a boss". One little puff of breeze or one little boat wake and he's screwed.

If you’re going to lay back as a courtesy to not block the ramp, then you can’t blame someone else for using it. I don’t think she was being a karen. She had no reason to know they were there waiting and, presumably, they have all ramps available to them because they didn’t tie off. If I wouldn’t try to thread the needle between two boats, why should I be able to take advantage because it’s a jet ski? I’m still blocking their trailer from coming in.

Plenty of room for that trailer to back down between the ski and boat at the other dock. Why should they wait around for the jet ski trailer to show up? The fact that she felt the need to harass the truck driver was the clincher, I would have never backed off after that. No one knows where her trailer is or when it will get to the ramp If there's room to back down, use it. Some of these folks fart around at the dock for 20 or 30 minutes, why should ANYONE have to wait?

I used to work at a marina in the South Pacific and watched so many people coming in stoned or drunk. I'm not a cop or a specialist in identifying it but being around a lot of these people most of these videos do have intoxicated people. Just saying

You're wrong. No one was at that dock, jet ski tied up to it first, and someone went to get their truck/trailer. I have a bass boat -175 Merc, and have used courtesy docks for 30-years in four states with 0 complaints, using the same system. Some passengers don't know how to operate a boat, load a boat, or back a trailer; calling them Karens seems kind of ridiculous.

This clearly shows what is wrong with Florida. Everyone only thinks of themselves. The poor nice guys could have been loaded and out of the way if that Karen hadn’t stopped them backing down and been a ramp hog. Where we boat we all try to have consideration for others by not hogging the ramp and allowing trailers that get to the ramp to load and go. I see all these people saying that she had the dock and therefore had “rights” but in reality the guys trying to load should be allowed to get out of there to Minimize disruption. And they were obviously there first as they had the trailer there first !! No fixing stupid I guess

The best way is drop off the driver at the dock then get your boat out of the way. Stay out of the way into your truck and trailer are ready. Back the trailer down load the boat and go.

I’m sure 5 to 10 minutes is not that important to you, so is it just on principle that you would’ve steadfastly refused to just let the jet ski get out? C’mon, man, is it really worth that? Further, I feel pretty sure the only reason anybody is at a place on a dock is because someone else didn’t take it.

Jetskis are such a pain in the ass. Whether it's a boat, or ski, don't dock it right at the base of the ramp.

You repeatedly claim that 'the only reason she's on the dock is that they didn't take it.' I don't even know why I'm writing this because you said it best: They Didn't Take It! There's no need to dwell on an assertion of nothing! Again, you said it best: 'She's on the dock'. (They are not.) Even still, common curtesy and some smooth talk might have gotten him in. Guy in truck was smart to get out of dodge. Poor guy jumping off then pulling the boat intended to do good. But he could not! I gotta quit watching these. I'm the only one who sees it this way, though. Should have been some communication. Not black-white.

Please don't trust your DOG to know what is best for him! Jetski's ruin everything. They should have 1 dedicated dock and that's it. They sit their ski's in the dock, take their time. Seriously -- give them all 1 dock and block them from the rest!!!
