The Milky Way is a tremendous structure in space containing billions of stars and trillions of planets. In their turn, these objects are surrounded by gigantic clouds of interstellar dust and scorching hot gas streams. By mutually interacting, all these components make up the bizarre and fascinating picture called galaxy. And today we invite you on an exciting journey across it.

for a visualization of how large the galaxy is: At the speed of Voyager 1, 35,000 mph, it would take about 82,000 years to get to the very nearest star to us, and about 510,000,000 years to get to the center of our galaxy
We know so much about space, the Universe and the Milky Way etc, and yet also know so little. Totally awe inspiring.
I have spent a very pleasant Saturday afternoon exploring the galaxy via your videos. I love to learn and you make the learning process very enjoyable. Thank you so much for uploading, Kosmo!
Nice, a free journey around our own glaxay from my own home in extreme comfort. I always forget how big it is and how little we see of it. I love your content.

Just got back from a space event with my 8 year old son who is obsessed with space and the stars, I must admit I’ve always been interested in our universe however they showed us beyond our Milky Way and I didn’t realise how many galaxies are beyond it , so amazing . Exploration of the Milky Way Galaxy? Completed it mate.
Yet another 60 yo here! ' 63 was indeed a great year 😅 This is what I've learned; The more I know, the more I realize I DON'T know! I grew up very near Yerkes Observatory (Geneva Observatory) and been there dozens of times. The scientists still sponsor viewing nights. I had my first 60x reflector Tscope at 9yo. There's a never ending and fascinating store of knowledge in the universe. I never get bored watching and listening to these expertly produced videos. I do sometimes wonder if indeed we're all just living in a simulation. Nice to see many other 60 yo's here. ✌🏻To us (US) all.
on the subject of space, i feel like the scale of the known universe, or even the scale of single galaxies are never really fathomable. Billions of this, trillions of that .... these numbers just dont compute with most people, including myself, its actually terrifying if we ARE or are NOT alone

@Hewhoremains not sure which is more terrifying - the though that we could be alone somehow or the thought that there are many alien civilizations out there way more or way less advanced than us or that humans existed before and blew ourselves op. 🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️

Marvelous, specially the map which helps us locate the stars vis a vis the sun. Good job.
Nice video. Recent update/discovery: The halo is not a sphere, it is more watermelon shaped, an elongated ellipse. and it is not aligned with our galaxy, but tilted compared to the disk.

I love your videos! I've always been extremely interested in the cosmos & love the videos that explore it. Would you by any chance do a video on The Great Attractor? I think that's what they call it, basically where our galaxy & other galaxies around ours are being "pulled" or "attracted" to an area in space that we can't see. I'd love to learn more about that if you know anything more 🙂 Thank you!

For anyone who does not know, any increase or decrease in temperature scale is exactly the same for both Kelvin and Celsius, they simply zero at a different point. Zero Kelvin is absolute zero while zero Celsius is the freezing point of water (conditional). A 100 degree increase for either would be identical.
So relaxing and informative. Listening to this is how humankind will evolve and become a more advanced race. Where did folks like this come up with the idea to produce programs like this? Maybe more advanced beings really are trying to enlighten us to become more advanced. Thank you to them. I listen to these programs in my sleep. I seek the knowlege of the ages🤔

Makes one wonder if there are intelligent beings on a planet somewhere out in the vastness of this galaxy hundreds or thousands of light-years away from us watching a similar documentary, except it's with our Sun and planets being discussed as some of the new discoveries they have recently made where life might be found.
@SeattlePioneer
Жыл бұрын
Seems unlikely. We have been looking for and listening for signs of intelligent life off the earth for half a century or more. There could have been radio waves from planets thousands of light years away that we might have intercepted, had they existed. But they don't. to observe them. In the same time, we have observed signs of the Big Bang billions of years ago. Logic and reason suggests there is nothing there for us to find. Beginning half a century ago, Carl Sagan and his friends postulated the existance of intelligent life as a matter of probability among trillions of stars ---and further postulated that it was just necessary to LISTEN We carries out that experiment as describe by Carl Sagan and friends, and have found nothing. That scientific theory must be rejected since the predicted result has never been found.
Very relaxing. It's like bedtime stories, but instead of a scary midget kidnapping your firstborn child until guess his name, it's planets and stars and stuff. Much more relaxing than fairytales.
Thanks for this epic voyage KOSMO!👍👍

I've invented a spacecraft engine that doesn't use liquid fuel. As long as it travels, it will gain speed. An engine the size of a bus could gain 4,000 feet per second every second, gaining 4000 feet times10 seconds 40,000 per second. 100-second reach speed of 400,000 feet every second. Say it isn't so.
Thank you. An educational delight.
