An inspired project or maybe a remix album for your own listening. But if I turn on KZread and see something like this I'm flagging the vid instantly. Like leave it alone especially with AI despite advancements. You heard the album like I did and loved it, but it should be something different. Imagine your favorite TV show continued with AI voicrovers and stick figures. You'd be pissed. Instead of hearing the greatness that is Donuts, you hear Waffles watered down with too much syrup. Not supporting the foundation or Ma Dukes. I''m all for introducing AI in music production but not to do this. No shade I'm subscribed and look forward to new content. Imagine a world where everything that's great and original must be carved in stone, frozen, derivatives strictly forbidden, inspiration policed and punished... I wonder if J Dilla's music could have come about in such a world in the first place. Everything gets watered down, copied, marketed to mediocre masses. I wonder how many humans are doing a terrible job of being truly inspired by J Dilla in this very instant.

  • @holdenhurdle8831

    @holdenhurdle8831

    @@AndersHansgaardI've watched the video in it's entirety now. But I'm still uneasy about it. Yeah lazy and untalented humans trying to capitalize off artist's legacy happens all the time (think Elvis impersonators). That happens, but passing that off to machines that can sound almost authentic. And that's where my contention begins because at what point and it's not hypothetical at all they will erase legacies that took lifetimes to build. Because it's too easy to replicate this on a widespread and eventually J Dilla or whatever artist will become a myth or legend. Wiped away because it will no longer be special it will be ordinary. For products such as soap and detergents alot people don't know their origins and history. But for those products they serve a greater purpose to society at whole. But this is someone's else art and emotion. To me it's like walking into someone's else house and photoshopping yourself in their family portraits. Funny yes, but after while if the context of the joke is lost. Then people will start making assumptions and narratives get created. And take away from the artist's intent and it starts to lose it's meaning. Like Waves on "Donuts' is like a personal message to his brother but now anybody named John can now make it about them. And have receipts of 'unreleased' Dilla beats it's gonna make me mad. I understand sampling but that's done by a human hand and mind but a computer trying to replicate a person's entire catalogue is insane to me. Maybe I'm in the minority but it's how I honestly feel about it right now. I may change under the right context but it makes me sick right now.

    @@holdenhurdle8831 if we were living in the 90ies you probably would have similar issues with sampling, or synthesizers during their rise in popularity decades earlier, like seriously... you can STILL find people today who believe music isn't authentic (and thus can't be enjoyed) when it involves any programmed synthesizers. You say "I understand sampling but that's done by a human hand and mind", wich is just not true.... the sampling is done automatically by a device, the artist only picks the input material, adjusts some parameters and composes in post, wich all isn't far off from the way one can or could use AI in music.

    All this videos shows is that you have no understanding of what music is, who J Dilla was, and shows you would rather play with machines than understand the depths of human life and creativity. Donuts is a collage of life and a last message from J Dilla. The arrogance needed to think code can even come close to it is unmatched.
