A history of friendship...

... and a history of DANGER!
In the 1920s and 1930s, Canada and the United States both developed secret pre-emptive attack plans for… each other.
Canada called their plan “Defense Scheme No. 1,” and the U.S. called their plan “War Plan Red.” Both were created for the possibility of a hypothetical war between the States and Great Britain.
In 1928, Canada terminated their plan in order to pursue peaceful U.S.-British relations, and many of the associated documents were destroyed. The U.S. discontinued their planNING in 1939 with World War II looming, although they never discarded the plan itself…

The US and China, sadly. Before 1949, the Republic of China and the US at least had a trade relationship going back decades, and they were staunch allies during World War II (it's partially why Japan was so furious with us, for giving the Chinese diplomatic support against them in the 30s). Mao's Communist victory changed everything, and sadly it looks like we'll be enemies for the foreseeable future.

We actually DID kill each other during World War II. Both sides immediately took steps to ensure that such a terrible mistake would not be repeated.

Canada and the US are basically twin brothers. The difference being the US had a Rebellious Teen phase and went "Screw you dad! I hate tea!... and taxes! And ill go make my own country!", where as Canada was the dutiful son and stayed loyal, they even got a few licks in for the old man in the form of burning a certain house down. The two have since reconciled and become very close, as family should be.

Salutes to America as well. We may have our bickering at times. But facts are facts we are each others longest term allies. And for a good 40 years post ww2 our alliance almost by itself kept Russia in check. Russia had a fear of Canada post ww2. Even America got a bit paranoid which tbf I can't blame them they did kinda get a first hand account at our other side. But we tend to view you guys as your brothers and sisters as well. We are sibling nations. We protect each other. Simple as that.

That title pic is gold and perfectly sums up how our relationship has been in the earlier history. We didnt fully trust each other and were paranoid but we really do love each orher so we keep the knives behind our backs and not pointing em at each other.

Actually, in 1812, Canada and US had a conflict. At the time it was Upper Canada and Lower Canada. And, Canada was still part of the British Empire. There still was a war that lasted until 1815 (peace treaty signed in 1814).
