As a Night Owl who has tried repeatedly to time shift, one of the things I was always certain of if I managed to be conscious and coherent before 9:00am was that I was almost without fail emotionally sensitive and needed time and space to myself to just BE, no forced interactions or activity or I went from 0 to 90 on the “murderous scale”. Later, in my 30’s I figured out how to set clear boundaries about that with the people in my life (the cats, not so much, but they get a pass). However, when you named this hour “The Moping Hour”, without judgment or guilt, I felt such relief and joy, sincerely, thank you, that is accurate and I have secretly called it that myself, and have taken it as a time of refuge, as if it were a Buddhist principle - which, if you think about it a bit, it certainly can clear the mind, body, and spirit in a powerful and beneficial way, for me it became a kind of liberating mindfulness without rules…

Approx 90 mins in, regret not eating or drinking coffee earlier. Too late to turn back now. Resolve to eat and drink coffee next morning. Next morning: Repeat steps 1-6.

OMG! I am 57 and have NEVER been a morning person. Sure, I did it when I worked full-time, but I never loved it. Now, I sell on ebay from home, so I go to bed @midnight, and wake uo at 0900-0930. If you actually TELL people that, they act like you’re committing a mortal sin! Guess what though? I can manage to pull “all day-ers”. Most people who get up at 4-5am NEED a nap…they conveniently leave that part out. My sis in law asked me why I would miss a sunrise, because Karen, the full moon last night was freaking stunning!

Once I gave up sugar in my morning drink and on cereal, I couldn’t have anything sweet until after 11am or I’d feel sick. Haven’t enjoyed breaky since. Literally just finished a self acceptance calm app meditation because I was spiraling feeling like I’m not doing all the “shoulds”. I took a break to make food and popped open KZread while I did it and once again I feel like your videos are so on point for what I’m going through. Thank you for bringing the real tips and real feelings. Honestly your videos are often more helpful and actionable than half of the woo woo stuff out there ❤️

Amish wouldn’t have the ruffles and frills. Cute clothes, great ideas!! The best is your brutal honesty.

My productivity elevated once I had a baby...she's a better alarm than an alarm because she's a human being, it's like my parents making me get out of bed, except for now it's the child making me get out of bed, and one day I will be getting out of bed just to get her out of bed- and I'll probably be most productive then 😂

i can absolutely see this. having so much smaller margins in your schedule means there's not a lot of indulgence time. although i hope you can still slip in little moments of morning rot when you need it!

I have never related to anyone more than Caroline in this video: from the dates, to being unable to force myself into nature, to routine evening aggression. Plus adding my two young (absolutely precious) children to the mix = sleepy wildness.

Thank you for this video. I really needed it. Going to turn my screen off and look at the toilet floor. Grateful to you for the reminder that boring is actually sacred. The tens of hours you spend making these videos are worth it. You’re making such good products. I hope you continue to make them for a long time. Again, thank you.

During the week, I'm up around 6.40am, showered, hair and make up done, dressed, lunch made, have breakfast and out of the house for around 7.30 to start work before 8. I look at my phone while my computer starts up, but tend to only pick it up now and again during the day. On the weekends, I get up anywhere between 8 and 9am, and me and my husband have breakfast in bed while having really lazy mornings watching youtube videos on our phones. I rush during weekday mornings so the weekend ones are very lazy. Editing was superb! ❤
