This Afternoon Play, based on the story by William Boyd, was broadcast during the Christmas season in 2001; I think there may be some discussion to be had as to exactly how ghostly it really is, much less how Christmassy - but it's been repeated over Christmas a couple of times in recent years so somebody in scheduling obviously thinks it fits the bill as a 'ghost story for Christmas'...

Boyd is one of the BBC / Guardian cliques favourites . Why , I really cannot comprehend. The epitome of the bland ,middle class scribbler with nothing to say. Well connected though obviously .Which in Britain is the main thing..!
What's with the music ...I turned it off

It's in the radio adaptation. You could turn it down when there is background music to denote a party or bar scene etc.
