A hard study here where white wins!
This position is really hard to evaluate. Black is one step away from getting a second queen while white has none. But on the other hand white has a nice attack on blacks king going. How do white win this?

When I played this out with stockfish, after ke5 (at 7:50) he played qxd8. Of course rxd8 check, he played kg7, then I dropped rc1 to cover the pawn, and it was easy from there.
Second look says no, I missed position of white king. My bad.

It was hard enough that I didn't solve it, but that doesn't mean it was "too" hard. We only improve when we face a challenge.

After p to g1 for a queen, isn't rook to h4 mate?
Putting my guess in the comments before I watch: it looks like Kf7, threatening Bf6# is the solution here... I can't see a good response besides checking with the knight... Edit, ooh. I didn't think of that knight giving check THAT way.

What about starting K-f7, if N-d6, BxN, if N-d8, K-f1 and black has no checks left, so best move for black is Q-e5 (anything else allows B-f6 mate), then white follows with K-e7, and again, black has no checks that don't lose the queen, and the threat of B-f6 is rock solid.
One rule to follow - don't put your king in a corner and also avoid the sides.

From Child Burglar only! to FIDE master in chess composition. He was NOT! an International Master of the FIDE for chess composition, because he got 16,16 points in the FIDE Album. This is not enough for FIDE IM, or FIDE GM. About his study: I don't find the sacrifices surprising. Whenever the black king is in a corner it is always in the worst position and sacrifices are very often possible because of the mating patterns!
I could calculate to Qa1+, but then it got harder 😅

Why doesn't Kf7 win? If Kn d8chk then Kf8 and black has no chk to stop Bf6-mate???
After 1 Kf7 Nd8, 2 Kf8! and black has no easy way to stop white from checkmate with 3 Bf6# The black knight now blocks any check on the 8th rank, and 2 … Qf5+? loses to 3 Bxf5 exf5, 4 Rg1 and white has a win with a bishop and a rook vs. a knight and two pawns (soon to be one pawn!) The knight is just too far away from the action. Also, the black pawn on f6 prevents black from getting a free tempo with 2 … Nf6+. Of course, the rook covers 2 … Qa1 as well, AND stays on the 1st rank, guarding g1. Finally, 2 … Nc6 and 2 … f5 are too slow, white still mates on the next move.

I agree with your analysis. However, after 1 Kf7 black can play Nd6 leaving the 8th rank open to a queen check.
